Has anybody got any kind of scripts to be able to copy materials for GP, Dktr, Brstclr ... for G8 characters in DS2025 and its new scripting language?
    Sharing would be apreciated,
    J.

They posted dropbox links with updated scripts for the 2025 alphas in the support forum - here's the thread for G8:

Hi @Tim42, thanks for your fast answer.
However, the link is pwd protected.
I guess it's unlikely they share it with someone who got the products from this site ...

Hi - I forgot that Dropbox required an account. I still had the downloaded zip file, which I can share:

I haven't tried DS 2025 alpha yet, mostly because of an old saying about beta-testing: Pioneers get arrows in their backs.

But, I am curious: Does it actually offer any real improvements over 4.x - enough to be worth the jump?

It is worth playing with for me, since I use a Mac. I can at least use filament now. And, although still way slower than with an Nvidea card, Iray is somewhat faster. The biggest improvement is the speed at which characters (particularly G9) are loaded. I accidently trashed my data folder recently by clicking "replace" instead of "merge" with a manual install - so I thought it would be a good time to try G9 again. And, at least on an M4 Mac, characters load about 3 times as fast.

There's plenty of issues still, being an alpha - the viewport can be laggy with Iray, any products relying on scripts (i.e., the above mentioned Meipe stuff) likely needs to be updated, any plugins will need to be recompiled, etc. So unless you have a recent Nvidea card that needs the alpha for Iray to work, or you use a Mac, it is certainly best to wait. It is a parallel install, though, so it doesn't interfere with your regular install.

Thanks again @Tim42, however, I already had the G9 version (which is not pwd protected), the one I'm looking for is for G8 ... which is protected (I've already requested for authorization to download it ... but I don't expecte to be successfull).

@Grouchy old fart, if you have invested in a nVidia RTX50xx family card ... you NEED DS2025 as in previous versions the Iray engine is not compatible with the new hardware. And Daz has upgraded Iray engine only in DS2025 version but not in 4.X. Besides that, they have also changed the scripting engine ... which has caused several "assets" to stop working.

That's a good point. I have an RTX 4060, so I'm good in that department for now.

I do like the idea of a faster loading file, and I'm hoping that w/ the new engine, iray preview in the viewport works faster. I may try it as a parallel install just to see; my big worry was that it would stomp on the existing install.
