There are so many dull and uninteresting skin textures out there. I had a folder of the best character textures for G3. I haven't done a deep dive into analyzing G8. Since I started rendering again, I am moving on from G3, but still porting over those textures to G8. Raiya was doing some nice textures at one time. I like Vykohria character textures, like Esme G3F..
Let me know what you think.

June 16, 2025 at 2:08 PM #2132466Whilst not being top quality, VYK's skins are very useable & very well optimised, which is worthwhile.
I like A Glass Darkly, Belladzines, Brahann, Dimensionarium, Eichorn Art ( formerly fenrissa )
Exnem, Saiyaness, Tempesta3D & Tom Cat Oliver.

June 19, 2025 at 7:59 PM #2132879If you're talking about Genesis 8, then Bridget 8 has some pretty okay textures.
June 19, 2025 at 8:07 PM #2132880As far as skin texture goes, it varies, but these are my votes;
https://www.daz3d.com/bluejaunte
https://www.daz3d.com/p3design
https://www.daz3d.com/anagord (especially their Gen 3-8 work)
Anything from these vendors are a good time. Ensley HD was my fav for years, before that Anagord's Rhea HD.
June 22, 2025 at 12:26 AM #2133158I just got back to DS and I'm looking at all the new stuff and I have to say, Dexon makes really nice characters. Really great fresh skins.
I also really like the skins ripped from the "The last of us" games. Very beautiful and natural.June 22, 2025 at 5:21 PM #2133248Mousso and Colm Jackson are two of my favorites
June 22, 2025 at 11:11 PM #2133299I never saw Feng before. Very impressive. I went through aan Anagord phase. Some are really great textures. Thanks for the reply.
June 25, 2025 at 7:59 PM #2133622I use textures in both Daz and Unreal Engine 5.
In no particular order, for me the best G9 skins are:
Tara, Sylvia, Cheyenne, Sophia, Karmen, Julian, Thomas, John, Walter, Harlow, Dain, Charlie, Victoria.
New skins like Xiao and Ava are usually great because they are squeezing every pixel of the 4k texture, and Lyna has every single detail like blemish, fuzz, streeching marks, goosebumps...
Chloe, Cecelia were very dissapointing.
Lauryn is very recent and is the WORST skin you can find in the all the Daz originals Core G9 figures. It's blurry, lacks detail and the freckles makes the skin a downgraded Victoria 9. Run away from Lauryn 9.
From non Daz Originals PA's: HID Paula, Faberwork's London and Menfis. (All of those PA make new unique Brows and Facial Hair for their characters, which is a big plus)
I also tested some MSO and other ultra realistic characters but never really convinced me, they look good from afar and / or need a lot of Hue, Contrast and Color tweaks on Photoshop.
July 3, 2025 at 9:18 PM #2134805Thank you so much to take the time for such a detailed post. I have been away for many years and missed the Genesis 9 introduction. It does remind me a bit of the Original Genesis Female/Male duality in one character.
There is such a depth of product with Genesis 8. It is hard to move into the latest. So when I dove back into rendering again, I went right back to that character. Having so many different products for G8 makes it hard to move away. But I have heard that since Victoria 4.
I have to say. Having explored Genesis 9 for the past week, I am fully impressed by the level of realism you can achieve with that model. In the perfect world., I would have a very clean and organized Library system. With two dozen of the best skins and only great HD character shapes and morphs. At this point, I organize the crap out of my directory. I will take individual morphs that I don't like out of my data folder too. I may find the wall and become disenchanted with G9, as nothing is perfect in DAZ3D world.
I will definitely check out your suggestions since I am moving towards using G9 as my main figure line.
July 3, 2025 at 10:18 PM #2134809I recommend you use this with G9.
Ultimate Natural Bend Morphs 2.0
OR
Natural MovementsThose are like JCMS that enhance the figures when you pose the limbs.
I use both together because I disabled some hidden morphs and tweaked other until it looked like I wanted, but if you are not going to do that then choose only one.
You can install both and activate and deactivate to see what they do.This guy compares them side by side
May 14, 2026 at 4:49 AM #2174770The 8k normal maps for G9 are doing a lot of the detail you see in G9. But there downloads that have converted these textures to G8, so if you like G8, you can get the detail from G9 on your favorite G8 characters. One of these also converted the gen map.
The gloss textures have been converted, too, and some full G9 characters have been converted.
You can also use the G9 eye textures on G8.1 straight up. The UVs are almost identical. So you can recreate your favorite G8 with these normal and reflection maps. Use a similar material setup to a G9 you like. Best of all, you can use this set up for all your G8 characters with just a few tweaks. You can still use the old G8 normal maps for some characters, as the 8k normal goes into the detail section, leaving a space for another normal map if you wish to use it.
The mouth and lacrimal and the only things not covered by conversion, and maybe nails, but G8.1 already has great textures for these. Just use those.
May 15, 2026 at 8:39 PM #2174903Sounds good, actually. I wouldn't mind recreating some of the more older models. If you have any recommended vids on the texture conversion process, hit me up.
