ST was never meant to be taken seriously and was always just a bit of fun and tongue-in-cheek humor, that was its appeal. What's with all this overblown seriousness and sentimentality all of a sudden?

Wraith of Khan was the best ST movie and pretty serious.
The Cage was the first and a pretty serious episode.
While some episodes were campy several had a lesson to learn.
Rather than the garbage pushed in truckloads out of Hollywood over the last decade, its nice to see something worth watching. Most IPs have been thoroughly destroyed. Perhaps its a sign people are tired of being force fed pig slop?
Yes, it's sad to see that theses days, fans are doing a better job with Fanfictions, than most of what is out from studios. Probably because they are fans and understand the IP, while studios doesn't anymore.

Right now I'm finishing ST: Prodigy, after that rest of the S05 of ST: Lower Decks.
And than this. By stardate. Third time 🙂I have all on file. One of my friends made an excel spreadsheet of them in order. Did rewatch earlier in the year. Also been playing a bit of STO lately.
I'm on Stellaris.
Both New Civilizations and New Horizons mods. Prefer NH tho, because age mechanics.I was never big into Star Trek as much as I was into Buck Rogers. Its wasnt so serious (season 1, anyway) and had some humor and campiness. Surprised nobody "reboot, re-envisioned, re-make" it or whatever the popular new term is for it now.
I always leaned more towards Star Wars and old school Star Trek. Surprisingly liked Babylon 5. Liked Dr Who till it was destroyed. Couldn't get into most of the new Star Trek stuff but would randomly come across episodes I enjoyed.
Babylon 5 I enjoyed the first season, but never watched the following seasons, just because I became involved with other "life" things. Never returned to it, I probably should. I see they also had a bunch of Babylon 5 movies as well. I might try to watch it again soon. Battlestar Galactica was another one that I never got around to watching, I might enjoy that one since its from some of the same creators of the Buck Rogers series and seems to be in the same corny style as Buck.
I've seen most Star Trek episodes multiple times. One recent series that I always recommend is - The Expanse. I think it is better than of the new Trek series. Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks are best to watch at the moment.
With regards to Stellaris. I did play it around 5 or 6 years ago. Also played that Star Trek Infinite that was released last year. Haven't looked at since no longer gets any work on the game, which is sad.
If you enjoyed the first season, you should like rest of the show. First season was probably the weakest one.
Battlestar Galactica 1978?
I guess so since you're talking about Buck Rogers. I had fond memories of that last one: probably cos of the opening credits of the pilot and Erin Gray. ^^
