I have Daz Studio 4.21's install package, but what's stopping me from updating to 4.22 is the crashes from outoftouch's hairs. The new hairs seemed to work but old ones like Sophia Hair crash daz studio.

Really hope a highranking member here can share the updated hair products.

Just use an aftermarket hair shader on them.

It is an easy fix even if you want to use the same shader - look for the "Transmitted Color" in the shaders (select them all for the hair item, then search for "trans"), then remove the picture map from the slider. Everything should render fine from there.

IIRC I really don't notice the difference with or without it.

It is an issue you would have hoped they would have addressed by now!

They may have - my install of DS reported a new version that's out today.

I know the transmitted map fix, but outoftouch updated their hair updates which address this. But those updates we don't have.

When i was trying out 4.22 i keep forgetting to manually fix the map and sure enough DS crashes itself when i use one of those older hairs. Having updates would be nice but 4.22 isn't a major version with any appealing features so i've gone back to 4.21.

Sorry for somewhat hijacking the thread but I think it is linked to OOT and DAZ version conflicts.
I am in 4.21.05 pro (previous standard release, I did not take the risk to update...). Let's assume I have a powerful rig and a well organized file system (with a severe control on the number of morphs). My work process is to create a lot of ready to act G8 characters (with hair and genitals), note I have also converted my most pleasing G3F to G8F. I usually load a G8F subscene in less than 10 seconds BUT sometimes it is more than 1 minute and after many tests I have found the culprit to be some old (pre 2018) OOT hair (the log shows a punitive 1 minute to load the material), the trick to remove the transmitted map has no impact for this. I would like to know if the updated versions are faster or if you have better results with these OOT hair (second generation of hairblending). I have lost much time in search of morph problems while it was just a material problem (apparently). Any opinion or experience appreciated.
    Thanks for reading.

What I do is to put an aftermarket shader on the hair & save it out as a 'Wearable' duf.

Thanks Eelgoo, I will test that option, I like some of these too much to let them be replaced without a fight.

For the record the aftermarket shader is the way to go. OOT has got a real problem (or maybe Daz, as usual), a simple reshading with Colorwerks was enough to load/merge a G8 prescene with OOT hair (Cathy in this case) in just 6 seconds in a large scene (already 6 G8 and a baroco chamber with amenities), yeah (compared to 56 seconds just for the hair materials previously, now less than 1 !). I also discovered that the results with original OOT hair are not constant from scene to scene, I suspect a very bad memory handling. Just reshade and be happy and you can beat the AI crunchers ! Thanks again Eelgoo, you made my day !

It may not do that, but VYKs To Dye For shaders are my go to.

4.22 iray most likely changed some bricks which broke OOT hairblending shader.
I didn't do a comparison on what's changed within the shader but the files above will fix that. These are the files coming straight from what's being updated in an updated OOT hair product.
Place the files above into "<your daz library>/data/outoftouch/OOT Hairblending 2", overwrite when prompted.

    @slender331man
Thank you , I will conduct some tests to check that.
