    I bought every dead tree issue of Boot magazine which then became MaximumPC. When they stopped printing I subscribed to them digitally until they started using a new publisher that only offered online reading, no PDF downloads. From then on I used an excellent WAREZ site that offered quick PDF downloads on decent file servers. This site went dead and I can't find any other source than the crappy sites with shitty downloads that are painfully slow, use a million click-throughs with trashing advertising, and are a huge pain in the ass.
    Does anyone know of a decent site for my beloved magazine? I'll gladly pay points.
    Thanks a bunch.
    Ethiopia, desperate for words on a page.

    have you tried torrents? This torrent I found shows it has all issues up to and including this months, dec 2023, so tt does appear to be updated regularly. I havent tried to download it, so cannot verify anything about it, but its worth a shot

    here is the magnet link:

    Not warez, but from usenet you can find all the maximum PC mags from 2013 to 2023, in pdf. if you don't know usenet check this (https://www.newshosting.com/) But you have to pay to use an nntp server (for anonymity, reliability and speed) it's something around $10 But it's nothing compare to all you can get.

    As we arrive in xmastime, I can be "cool" just ask me in private and I can get them for you and share them

    Thanks to all the suggestions. I found torrents to be the quick-n-dirty answer.

    @doodoomaxxx
    , I'm an old hand at the usenet but haven't used it much in almost 15 years. I found that most groups are passworded and you have to be in the 'in' crowd to get anything. My ISP still provides usenet access (believe it or not). I can't upload binaries and downloads are slowish but it's free and stable.

    @gts6
    , you have a GT6 right? If so, we gotta talk...I mean we gotta. I have a huge box of Stromberg spares under the stairs.

    @ethiopia no, I don't. Never even heard of it to be honest, I just had to look it up now to see what it was, lol

    So I guess my shed full of British car spares won't interest you then.

    Unfortunately, no. Im more of a rugged old-school style Jeep kind of guy. After so long of driving over any terrain as you like, I think if I had to get behind the wheel of a regular car again, id probably destroy it in less than an hour.

    What you need is an old Land Rover. I used to get a kick out of their ad in National Geographic, "How many times has your Land Rover been gored by a rhinoceros? The record is 23 times."
    Did you see the series on Top Gear where they tried to kill a Toyota Hilux truck? That was impressive.

    I've looked at Land Rover in the past, but prefer Jeep. LR have a higher cost especially in the maintenace/repair costs, and they seem to need more work done than most other vehicles on the average (sometimes 2x more from what ive read, no clue if that is accurate). They do have some nice ones though, I almost did give them a shot once.

    I used to collect PC magazines but they're out of date in a few months the way new components evolve so quickly. If it's not just for hording, the latest info is on the net and far more up to date.
    Then again, I do get a good laugh looking at reviews of the "high end" specs from 2002. I remember having to get a patch for Poser to work with more than 4MB (not GB) of sys ram. They never though we would need more than that 🙂.
