    Hello!

I was wondering if it's possible to convert a Daz model into a 3d printable one? I would love to create some cool models and print them.

I believe that the best way is to go through Blender. A Daz model will have lots of non-manifold parts in the mesh and Blender's tools are much better at fixing these. Have a look at the diomorphic tool for taking Daz models into Blender. There's plenty of discussion about the tool in the daz forum for Blender.

so i should send the daz model to blender and work it from there. That could work. I can try it sometime. I am not too familiar with blender but now i have a reason to learn it.

One of the many advantages of Blender is the wildly enthusiastic army of users. There's at least a billion tutorials out there for it.
A word of caution though. 'Blenderists' like to become obsessed with keyboard shortcuts because it's faster. This is fine if you have no life other than using Blender but for normal folks it's frustrating. Open the tool and other pallets you'll use, put them somewhere AND LEAVE THEM THERE! Having two monitors is a HUGE advantage. You can put the pallets on a cheap, second monitor and leave your good one for the working space. Something I learned both in school and from a couple of adult educators (both with Masters degrees) is that positional data sticks with us much better. We'll have trouble remembering some arcane series of keystrokes, while having a pallet open with the tools and features right there in front of your face is easily recognizable. Hardcore Blender users are damned pig-headed on this point.
Aaaaaaand, don't get obsessed with the eleventeen ba-zillion specialty tools and scripts. You can do almost everything with the basic tools. Learn them well and you'll get fast with them.

Follow this forum and read up on the free Diffeomorphic tool. It's apparently much better than Daz's attempt at an exporter.

There's also the 'Hitchens' live link, another free and open source third party tool.

Converting to STL is not a big problem... The problem is that depending on the pose or dresses, you have to separate everything into pieces, like a 3D puzzle. The 3D printer needs disposable supports for elements outside the center of gravity, which are removed in a later process, and are necessary. If you think that the 3D printer is going to make the whole model in one go, you'd better dedicate yourselves to ostrich breeding...
Download a model of super-heroes in stl with a fascinating pose, and you'll see the puzzle...
As an industrial designer, I have made prototypes of mechanical elements, with Autodesk Netfabb, with small size ABS plastics, and it takes days to get a good finish. If you use PLA plastic, it's a botch: Although cheaper, it's a simple way to throw away money and time.
Do NOT buy a 3D printer!!! You will lose your nerves with the simplest thing, and you will send everything to hell, much more if you are a novice. I've always gone to professionals for these tasks, and even they have broken their heads with my models.... Grey are ABS. White , PLA. (If you notice, in one of these prints, there are still the ephemeral supports, which could not be separated because of the complexity of my geometry: They were tableware projects based on non-Euclidean geometry..., made in Rhino and Grashopper with a code that I created with mathematical formulas... ( my real work madness...)

Hey thanks for your reply. I am not new to 3d printers. all i am asiing is if it's possible to make an stl out of a daz3d file.of course i can't just import a file and send it over to blender and call it a day. I thought it would be cool to create something and print it instead of printing something someone else has done.
