Here's something I just came across...

If, like me, you're not going to knuckle under to the MicroBorg and are happy with what you have, use this to stay secure.June 5, 2023 at 12:49 PM #1980787I'm tempted to just use a Linux machine to do my browsing and downloads, and the windows play box will be unallowed to go online for any reason.
I wish MacOS and Windows weren't the only options for DAZ Studio. I tried running DAZ Studio under wine, but it was slow and clunky, with renders and the User Interface taking for-ever.
June 5, 2023 at 1:53 PM #1980797I gave Ubuntu a six month trial a few years ago and it was a disappointing disaster and endless source of frustration. I could go on endlessly about Linux's failings but the best way to think of it is to look at the old car hobby.
There's people who LOVE tinkering with their old cars and are constantly fiddling with them. They require lots of time under the hood, checking and adjusting.
Most of us can't be bothered. We want to get in the car, push the go button and be off, with the technology taking care of everything. It's not that we're stupid or lazy, we just have no interest in the mechanics or the driving process. It's nothing more than a transportation appliance.
Linux folks are the mechanics, they LOVE tinkering with it and think nothing of recompiling the kernal just to reduce the size of the desktop icons (no...really!). I'm pretty astute with computer stuff but I want to get shit done!...not spend time coding and fiddling. For a computer I want a Honda Civic; absolutely and completely reliable and easy to use where everything fits in it. The Linux folks are the guys with the vintage Ferrari's that are constantly screwing with them but rarely go anywhere.
Linux will NEVER, EVER become popular on the desktop unless someone takes the entire Linux community by the throat and bashes their stupid, pig-headed, fucking heads together and gets them to work together on ONE.....one damned version that looks, works, and is almost indistinguishable from Windows.
