I'm not sure if this is commonly done or not but I tried something and it worked great. I loaded a G9 female and then made her completely invisible. I loaded the same figure in the same spot. I parented the invisible figure to the visible one. I loaded clothing on the invisible figure and adjusted breast size etc to get the clothing to look a bit loose in spots I wanted on the visible figure. Now to test a pose. I had some playing around but what was easiest was to pose the visible character then pose the invisible one to make the clothing move. I tried a few parenting combinations but didn't find a way so far to make the pose happen in one click. Regardless for me this is a good way to get the effect I wanted. I hope at least someone can find some use from this as well.

What's the purpose of doing so? To prevent poke-thru? It's not really a common way but it's doable anyway.
For posing issue, no matter how you parent the invisible one, there's no way to synchronize the poses by only applying pose to the visible one...
You want both visible/invisible G9s to have the same poses, correct? Why didn't you CTRL+SELECT both figures and then load the pose preset?

Thanks for the dual select Idea, I didn't realize you could do that. As far as the reason, I am not doing it to prevent pokethru but in order to get a more realistic fit in my opinion for some clothing areas. I like to have some space in the upper breast area for instance so when you look from an angle you see it's not quite a tight fit. I will be experimenting more with it but in general it is just for looks and by using any body morphs you have a lot of options for adjusting the look.

I find Fit Control to be pretty good.

@eelgoo I think I purchased fit control a couple years ago from Daz but never used it. Even so my experiment was on G9 and I don't think they have gotten around to updating that program to G9 yet. I think depending on what I want, the myriads of body morphs may give greater options for certain situations.

I have to try it yet but one thing I want to try is: I really like pointed breasts but every time I make them I end up with poke thru. I don't want to smooth it because I want more of a crisp point to the cloth. I think if I used the invisible figure I can get as much point as the cloth will alow, regardless to the visible breast.

If you keep both of them having the same shape in terms of breasts, there still might be some poke-thru even with Smoothing Modifier as there's no collision in between garment and visible G9. So you have to further make visible G9's breasts not that 'pointed' while reserving 'natural offset'...

One of the quickest ways we fix such a poke-thru is to slightly increase the values of the breast pointed/perk related morphs (auto triggered) in the garment's hidden properties.

Besides, I frequently use Mesh Grabber to just give it a drag where there's a poke-thru.

Sometimes if we don't like Smoothing Modifier, we may export the smoothed garment to obj, and import it back to update the garment vertex positions, then turn off the modifier, however, it would depend on the circumstances...

@Richard Yan well I wouldn't keep the breasts the same size. I do know there are other ways to do this and I should tinker with them more to be more proficient, but part of my personality is to do things outside the box based on the knowledge and ingenuity that I already have. I know some other methods might even be easier, but not as satisfying to myself if I just followed someone else's direction rather than forging my own path unassisted.

Understood. NP~ it's up to you eventually to manipulate it with the way you prefer as long as you can get good and natural results~

I remember using the two character method but for a different reason. You know how if a hand/arm is too close to clothing, the clothing tries to wrap itself around the body part. If you have the clothing conformed to the invisible character it won't do that. Probably not well or fully explained 🤔 but you get my drift.

@Frank21 I will have to keep that in mind and try it next time I want to dforce something.
