Hi!
I was wondering which version I should download if I just want to bring it into daz?!
There is :
*Cinema4D
native / octane / redshift / vray*3DS Max
arnold / octane / redshift / vray*Maya
arnold / octane / redshift / vray*Unity
hdrp / native*Unreal Engine
*blender
*Houdini
*some have fbx/obj exports
I'm wondering which version is the closest to daz ? Which one will require the less editing ?
Have you tried those sets? They look amazing!
thanks
February 19, 2023 at 2:36 AM #1929616If you want to import the objects and textures directly into DAZ Studio, all you need are the FBX/OBJ versions and the texture files. Import the FBX file into DAZ and you should end up with the objects properly texture-mapped, but note that you may need to tweak the render settings a bit to get the textures looking the way you want with the Iray engine.
If you're even a little bit comfortable with Blender, you can load the Blender (.blend) version of the Kitbash3D kit into Blender and use that to preview the objects you want to select for use in DAZ, and export just those objects as an FBX file to import into DAZ. This makes your life a lot easier in DAZ because DAZ doesn't need to load the entire object set when maybe all you want for your scene are a few buildings and props. Memory requirements are lower, and load times are shorter, basically, if you do it this way.
The assets load into DAZ (in FBX format) in organized groups in the Scene Tab, which is convenient for identifying the items you want to preview, keep, or delete from your scene.
The only other caveat is rigging. The Kitbash3D and Big/Medium/Small kits are mainly useful (in a DAZ context) for static objects like buildings and props--objects on which you can perform basic transforms (Translate, Rotate, and Scale)--but they don't come with any DAZ-friendly rigging for things like opening doors/windows, turning vehicle wheels, etc., so if you want to rig them you'll have to do that yourself.

February 19, 2023 at 11:58 AM #1929833No worries @rendercola, feel free to PM me anytime. I think most of the Kitbash3D kits on this site are my uploads (to the point that I was probably thought of as "the KB3D guy" at one time) 🙂
Cheers,
