I believe that the purpose of the site is to provide content for free, and not want to profit from it, right? There is a user, who, in a very malicious way, is posting items using paid redirects (where HE earns by clicks).
He puts the link as if it were a download, but it is a redirector, which automatically points to another redirector and in the end it doesn't get anywhere, making whoever wants to download the file just waste time, while HE profits from the clicks!

I noticed that other posts of his that used the same method are gone. In my humble opinion I suggest that this user's account be banned

how does something like this even get approved after submitting the link as a new post? Aren't new links verified?

@Gts6 I think I read before that admin don't have the time/people to check all the DL links, so things like this will happen from time to time. I just feel sorry for those who wasted their points on this scammer.

This all seems to tend and trend to the filtering and privatizing of ZGFX, and/or TORRENTING of content.
While I'm all for such changes if they're actually effective (and actually necessary), I worry a great deal about changing the functional model that brought the substantial number of the community (myself included) here in the first place. Newbies are important and underrated popcorn in such a biome. It's the truth. Numbers of all flavors change power and effectiveness. (Did no one see the CGI extras required in making GOT final season? ...or, don't hold that idea against this post if other. Sorry.)
I'm not resistant to ideas of such big changes, I just wonder sometimes if it's not something that couldn't be resolved with current practices and tools at hand, laser-focused in other structured or creative ways.
Is it so naive to think that much of this could not be "code-ed away"?
I SO appreciate what the mods & admins do on the daily. Site maintenance and background script included, and for the likes of THIS place, no less. Obviously sainthoods should be assigned. (Medals are given out to the wrong people.)
But as a community, as a base of the "watch", maybe we all have a post on duty as what should or shouldn't get in or be allowed?
I know that could be aided by powerful filtering or preventing agents or approaches like invite-only or "post this much in this time, plus wait for a while" elements at the onset. But is it really there now? At this point?
(I'm honestly asking. Don't know the answer.)
I would hope that the calmest and most seasoned heads prevail in this onslaught of takedowns and challenges. We (all) count on that, very much.
In the interim, we're also all capable of running to and holding down any station on the SHIP we're assigned. If help is needed, it would seem as if it's not like we're not available at some level (we make funny and fun pictures for fun, as a hobby, if I'm not mistaken).
    Awaiting orders, sirs.

... and once again this jackass is back, using the same click redirector to earn money here...

I find regrettable how much this guy wants to make money in this site...

Personally, I would not return to torrenting.

IMO technology has moved beyond that.

My 12 and 15 year old daughters both want (and already started buying) vinyl disks... so much for the technology that has moved beyond that (no offense @eelgoo). And I got rid long ago of the adequate player.

I don't mind torrenting, I actually use it quite a lot. In our case, I think it could be a viable secondary option to backup standard cloud solutions. It can even been made private with a user key needed to be accepted by the tracker.

Just as Discord is our backup plan, torrents could be a secondary option for our downloads, but not the one an only.

I still have an extensive vinyl collection, but never use it.

The artwork on the covers is the main appeal these days.

    🙂
