Like most of you, I have a lot of everything Basicly...
Even when installed in separate libraries, it takes for ever to load a character etc.
I have read it is due to the fact that DS "ïmports" all the morphs of all the characters
So I tend to make libraries for specific pictures( Each pic it's own library)
So there is not much need in keeping things organised.
It is a different mater on my hard drive.
I try to keep a logic in it
    Genesis 8 Female
    -Character
    --Fantasy
    --Asian
    --European
    --etc
    -Hair
    --Long
    --curly
    --etc
    -Clothing
    --Dress
    --Shoes
    --etc

I also have a preview folder for quickly finding a model or object I like

Am I the only one doing this?
Are the other ways to organise in a more practical way ( in means of finding what you want)
    Just curious

The loading time concerns characters and is not impacted by other assets. You can have 10 or 10k outfits, the loading time will be unchanged (the time to find the proper asset in your content library is another issue).
The loading time of characters is only related to the number of morphs associated to the char of a given family/gender. It includes characters, of course, but most of them only add two morphs (face and body). The most important impact is from morph packs (that can frequently add hundreds of extra morphs) and from expression packs that generally have tens of morphs.
I have ~200 chars installed, only a couple of morph packs (the daz official), some expressions that I like and no real loading time problem.
I also use the turbo loader utility by RiversoftArts. Without modifying the file folder organization, it lets you simply remove unwanted morphs to keep the loading time small. You can have this way several subsets within the same file hierarchy depending on your needs.
And no specific file organization. I only use the content library and it can be painful with several assets libraries.

    Hi Niala,
    thnx for the reply.
Do not know much, obviously, what happens under the hood in DS.
    Good to know these things.
At least I can unzip al the files in my separate clothing folders, into a "new"library, make a folder with the particular clothing item ( say coats) in the root of the clothes folder like:

    People\Genesis 8 Female\Clothing\Coats\All the coats I have

And then "merge" it into a complete clothes Library
Plus it is easy to check if I got a certain item or not if I go through the dead post section.
But thnx again for the explanation about where the weight comes from.
