i have tons of old exe files some as low as 3 digits. i am looking for the simplest way to extract the files to be made into a dim file with content packager any suggestions.
@gladstone1976 He's talking about using Content Package Manager to create the DIM files, I don't think that can handle bulk conversions. I've installed exe files to a temp folder when converting to DIM, it's not an elegant solution, but it does work and it's relatively painless.
I don't think there's any automated way of doing this. Running those .exes requires input to specify what and where things are extracted, and some of the older V4/M4 ones need to search for installed resources before they'll extract.
It might be easier to do what @Littleevie suggested and zip them, but obviously more time consuming.thanks for the input i was hoping not to have to do an install since i currently hAve close to 4k to do. but looks like i have a winter project ahead. i am going to be doing a migration and reinstalling 12.6 t of daz would be easier if i could extract the files and then i could use the daz3d manager tool to install everything. i dont even need them in dim format really.
A long time ago there was this: 3D Content Installer. Installation needed you to send in a code and get a response but the author stopped supporting it. I bought it legit and now I can't reinstall.
Obviously this is no use to you, but it was based on a macro recorder of some sort which was programmed with the mouse and keyboard inputs needed by each type of installer. You couldn't touch the computer while it was working, FFS.
If you could sort the exes you have into the various types you could probably program a macro recorder to do the installs. I know such things are available but haven't got a good recommendation, sorry.
i did start and have a lot of the .exe files in a folder. i have been removing the html and web link and all the fluff crap to pare down the size. i also only install the daz version unless its poser only and the software i use is nsware daz3d manager tool. i think i originally got it here but not sure that was a few years ago and now new version. is on a adult daz site. (you can om for site name) but it has an auto installer which is great installs all third party and daz content just like dim does. and seems to do it alot cleaner. it just don't do .exe files. my file system is chaotic. i have all poser file pull to a file all daz files in another and a third just for templates. i also have them broke down by which site they are from aka daz,rendortica,rundna,cg,rendhub and so forth. then by type clothes, environment, props. and that just my zips. i am just completing a storage unit for my back ups i found an old backblaze box and a deal on hdd. so i dropped a ryzen 3600 on a b450-f board with a 3060 and stuffed every ssd /hdd i could in it. right nor it has 2x14t 8x12t 6x8t 9x5t 6x2t 5x1t all spinners and it has 5 2t ssd and 6 1t ssd. all drivin by dual nvme 2t drives. i still have about 20 hdd's 500g and below and about 60 sas dr5ives all 400g or less. i am wanting to set up a daz hosting server so my family can just use their login and access there drive but also have access to all the server software aka daz, max, maya, blender. iclone, substance, MD, zbrush and the like. but this has been the one sticking point . i have close to 70t in assets between all the platforms. so this is a slow migration and was hoiping to jump a step i guess
