Hello all,
As I have already said, I am viscerally unable to store a 3D asset if it is not identified and cataloged... It's stronger than me, I just can not 🙂
Seriously, I have been keeping track of existing SKU numbers / asset names sold by various sites for years now (DAZ, Renderosity, Renderotica...), and I always check against this list before downloading an asset to make sure :
1 - that I don't already have it
2 - that it is referenced in my "database" with proper SKU and nameLately, and thanks to some of our users, I grabbed a large collection of RDNA assets.
After decompressing the archives, some of the assets they contain have been "retaken" in the DAZ store and have references I can use to name, sort and store them. But a vast majority are no longer available and I am unable to "trace them back in history".I've been scraping sites like DAZ, Renderosity or Renderotica (to name only those) for years, gathering data on asset names, sku, artists involved in the creation process, prices. Even compatible software and figures for DAZ assets. Over time, my database has grown to a point where I can almost certainly identify any asset coming from one of the major vendor and know instantly if it is worth downloading or if it already is in my collection. Everything is neatly named and stored and... I'm happy 🙂 (and as you might have understood by now, I am more a collector than a real 3D artist or even a DAZ power user).
But those "unrecognized" assets are a nightmare for me. This is the purpose of this message : do any of you know of a good reference list for RDNA assets ? Something with asset names and corresponding SKUs ? Especially those that are not sold anymore ?
I've tried scraping info from the Wayback Machine (https://archive.org) but the speed is sooooo slooooooow... that I often end-up either with a timeout or rage quitting 🙂
Any help would be much appreciated.
Wishing you all a good day/night
