In particular I am looking for obj-files of historical buildings. There seem to be couple of models available, for example on turbosquid. Does anyone know where I could find such files?

Sketchfab is a great resource, here's a generic search of downloadable architecture:
    https://sketchfab.com/search?category=architecture&features=downloadable&type=models

Look carefully at the top corner icons, they mix in a lot of paid models with a freebie search, which I hate, but you will find the freebies. Play with the filters and search terms too, Sketchfab has a lot of stuff.

One unique option would be to download a city buildings asset pack from the Unreal Engine marketplace. There's a bunch of good quality free ones, such as this: https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/city-sample-buildings

This requires downloading Unreal Engine. However, after you do that, and open up the asset pack, you can export the individual building assets and import them into Daz.

I believe that you are not supposed to use UE assets outside of UE, however I wouldn't be too concerned if you are only using them for rendering. I don't expect you would receive threatening emails from any concerned parties.
