Been toying around with Daz for a while - never produced anything i was happy with so wanted to share something. Just applied some lighting principles i used to use when i had a small photo studio

Model is CJ Sirpa, with a main, fill and rim light and a small emmissive upwards "reflector" back into the face.

    Comments gratefully received

Nice render, but why is she dirty on her chest??? Something wrong with the tattoo?

    Thank you.
Its actually the chest tatoo that comes with the model and i thought the same too - maybe i will re-render with it removed

Nice work, hate that the tattoo went wonky on you.

The tattoo has scales, as in serpent scales. It's meant to be like that.

I think that the illumination on the front is a bit too much.

Generally speaking, you want 20% highlight, 20% shadows 60% mid tones on the skin.

Now, if the background is black...you have "Low Key" photography, and you usually want a bit more towards 50% shadows, and 50% light, with few mid tones.

For "High Key", you instead use a bright/white background, 50% highlights, 50% midtones, with almost no shadows.

    LOWKEY Example:

Also, I recommend this playlist [not just to you, but to anyone interested in lighting, really] for both character and environments:

Thanks Legolas - those videos look really helpful.

I have dialled down some of the lighting a bit and got rid of the tatoo
