So I've been doing some research to have someone create a custom character for me for Daz. I've found a couple of artists on Patreon and Devient Art but was wondering if people here with experience in this sort of thing had any recommendations.

Well I'd like to create characters that are based on cartoons, but slightly more real world...I've tried some of the products for daz off of pictures, but am not very happy with them. I know there are artists who will do custom work but before paying money was looking for recommendations on quality, etc.

well, the quality you can achieve is anyway limited to the low resolution mesh of the base character you want to use. so as long you can't hire an official DAZ artist which has access to the HD tools the achievable quality will differ very much, depending on the complexity of the face structure. but apart from that, something like this is a very tedious and time consuming task (i speak from experience), so i hope you have deep pockets 😄 ...
just out of curiosity, are these characters just for your personal use or do you have further plans with it ?
whether you want them exclusively for you, or whether you might want to resell them to others e.g. ...
