How would I do this most efficiently? As probably most people around here I installed lots of content without DIM.
So how could I uninstall it if I don't need to decrease the Content Libeary's size but with the goal to decrease loading times?
Every product usually has files under "Data", under "Environment" or "People" or something similar and under "Runtimes". Do I have to find all files or is it sufficient to - let's say - delete the content under "Environment" or "People" for DAZ to ignore the remaining orphaned files?February 5, 2022 at 2:41 PM #1773701Well, if you followed the Manual Install to Daz thread, you should have an Inst folder or zip which will hold all the files relevant to the product & where they are installed.
That will tell you what needs to be deleted & where from.It is usually the Data files which take most of the load time.

I believe it is the files under "data" that impact the loading times and the files under "runtime" that account for most of the disk space used. If you just delete the files in "Environment", "People" or "Prop" the files under "data" and "runtime" get orphaned and become more difficult to find.
I use "Content Gatherer" to identify where the "data" and "runtime" files are that are associated with a particular ".duf" file in "Environment", "People", "Prop" etc. I can choose a particular product's ".duf" and it will tell me where the associated files are located. I can choose multiple ".duf's" and it will give me a file list I can sort by "data" and "runtime". I then manually delete the directories and files.
It is still rather tedious and I sometimes delete common files, but it helps me manage disk space and loading times. I'd love to hear about other schemes other than DIM.
February 5, 2022 at 2:52 PM #1773710Removing only user facing files under People or envs, etc, will have absolutely NO impact either in terms of disk occupation or loading times. User facing files are generally just scripts while the largest files are under runtime (textures) or under data (morphs). The latter are the one that increase char loading time.
The simpler to properly remove them is to look at the installation zip file in order to have a list of the files contained in the asset and to remove them.
BEWARE that some artists use the same files for several assets (for instance this is frequent for nail morphs, but I have also seen that for some simple props, plants, etc). And removing these shared files may break some other assets.
DIM maintains a count of referenced files and only removes files that are referenced only once, but unfortunately there is no simple way to deal with these shared files for manually installed content.February 5, 2022 at 2:57 PM #1773713Worst case scenario then would be to re-install the missing files on other dependent assets.
For me that would just be unzip the Inst file & copy it over again.
