Hello! I have a question about Reality rendering plugin for DAZ Studio x64 (I saw here some clean version with keygen). I used it several times and found it a very comfortable tool, but the support was stopped long ago and now I accidentally run against Reality site and they hung on such news - "Reality will be phased on March 1st 2022. At that time this site will be shut down and that will cause Reality to stop on all computers. Please start planning your migration to a different render tool today"
Does it mean the end only for legal users of Reality, who buy it from the DS shop and register it via the author' support page, it relates to all Reality software, even to cracked versions? Last time when I installed Reality, it seemed to be 4-2 and worked offline with some crack software. Is there latest Reality 4.3 with a crack or a keygen which works and registers completely offline, and will work after this final date?
(I know Reality became open-source now, but I haven't seen any working free versions so far). I love this little plugin and Luxrender too, it works even on weak hardware.February 4, 2022 at 2:48 AM #1773068Thanks for links, I'm glad to hear that those DAZ enthusiasts work to make Reality free for all, but so far I do not see any success. As I understand, their raw sources from Github require to be compiled - the task not for a regular user like myself. And I tested the old Reality 4.2 archive I installed log ago on my old PC and this version works completely offline (I plugged out the modem to be sure). As I remember, it was registered offline too. But I'd like to use newer Reality 4.3 with newer DAZ versions from DS 4-11, because the old Reality versions give a crash often by unknown reasons.I suspect that this online server is necessary only for legal registration of this software. By the way, which version of DS is final for that plugin? I've read somewhere that Reality 4.3 doesn't work in DS above 4.12 or 4.13 - does it mean that I'll have to seek for another render engine at all for all newest DAZ Studio updates?
February 4, 2022 at 7:35 AM #1773122Just my 2 cents, but Reality was never very good. Much of the functionality of LuxRender was intentionally left out due to the developer's (stated) belief that it was useless and that nobody should need it... I suspect the real reason was that he couldn't implement it. Just a hunch based on his ranting and whining blog posts and confrontations with users. Luxxus was miles ahead of Reality, it added nodes natively to the scene hierarchy and allowed saving material and lighting data in the scene file itself.
Anyway, they both require the now defunct LuxRender, which has since evolved into LuxCore, a much nicer engine.
It remains to be seen if anyone develops a DAZ plugin to leverage LuxCore, although if you do a little research, you can export raw scene for rendering externally.
AFAIK Reality never required contact with a server to operate.
February 4, 2022 at 3:01 PM #1773269Stop the nonsense of in render engines! There are only professional solutions, not amateurs, or failed projects.
I don't like Octane at all. V-Ray is very good, but it takes a long time to learn (It is capable of making great and very fast renders, if it has been optimized...). Redshift , well..., it's fine, but I don't get to take your edition. Maxwell is wonderful, but very slow (despite using GPUs...) -Only for static...- And finally, Arnold, for me, the champion.
Of course I speak in maya / 3ds Max or cinema 4d.
I forget Blender with its cycles and Ivee (I think it's called that...), which don't seem right at all to me (despite good results...)
Reality is a flop from the start, and so are so many render engines. Even Iray sucks, and no one uses it.February 4, 2022 at 4:35 PM #1773312re: Blender - it's called Eevee - while it's pretty badassed, it does require Blender. 😉
I don't mind external renderers, but it is rather convenient to use internal ones like the DS iRay rig... if you know what you're doing, it can be both fast and accurate.
