After a somewhat... difficult December, I'm finding that my inspiration and enthusiasm glands have run dry. Normally, I'd go and choose something else mildly creative from my list of things to do, but I'm feeling particularly meh and can't find the get up and go to even open my list, let alone actually start on anything. Lest anyone worry, I'm sure I'll be back to normal in a few days or so, but I thought it might be interesting to find out what gets our creative juices flowing (or turns them to dust).
December 27, 2021 at 2:33 PM #1761678I find that getting up and getting out works wonders. A day trip to the beach (especially in winter once the tourists are gone), a walk in the woods, a bit of odd browsing at a bookstore, or best of all? A sit-down somewhere busy, just people-watching.
The biggest thing is to take in new experiences, and not through a tube or a screen. It's change that spurs creativity.
December 27, 2021 at 4:28 PM #1761708I do the same as @Ethiopia, albeit slightly different artists (except Dolcett, I have a sweetspot for him! And yes, I really likes kittens too!).
Know who your favorite artists are and spin through their collections for the thirtyeleventh time, this usually works for me.
Another thing I do is to change from creating stuff to clean up in my folders, categorize stuff, save custom poses or whatever that is not creative but will help enormously when the energy comes back.

That's pretty much what I've done already; All my frequently used characters saved off as subsets along with various hair and clothing choices, all my old scenes moved into categorised folders, my renders backed up to a couple of different cloud services etc etc.
I did manage to find a tiny bit of motivation yesterday and finally got around to porting a house prop I built about 10 years ago back out from Daz and into Blender. Hopefully a bit of virtual re-decorating and furniture re-arranging will give me some ideas.
December 29, 2021 at 9:59 AM #1762072While I always have ideas in the back of my head I think much of my inspiration comes from the products on offer. A bit sad when inspiration is content-driven. I see a nice metro station and think I could use that for... or a beautiful character like Rosemary Winters and try to fit her into a plausible scenario. Creativity is one thing, but if you haven't got the goods to work with, it's hard to bring it into realisation.
