Better yet, does anybody know of copies of V4/M4 bundles that DO NOT use exe installers?
I've grabbed many copies of the full V/M bundles, and have never gotten them to install correctly, therefore I've never used them ever.

The problem lies in the fact that the installers are Old Daz, and about half of them have hardwired install locations expecting to find the old Daz 3.xx installation paths. They fail silently when the paths are not found. I've wasted many many days examining Windows installer logs to figure out exactly what is supposed to go where, but without an actual installation of v3.x, there is no way to successfully trick the installer exe into extracting its contents... and the bin seems to be beyond reach by any unpacker I've tried on them.

I would LOVE to have a complete set of the full bundles' content in raw format, I don't even care if they are not DIM-ready. I can easily re-create the DIM packages.

Also, I just checked and remembered I completely deleted the bundles, since they were useless, so... yeah. Would love to know...

Sometimes, the installation path is specified but you always have the option to choose the custom installation. Choose it, then browse to this folder; c/users/public/public documents/My Daz 3d Library. It always works for me. The older V4 and M4 products will show up in your Content Library under Poser Formats/My Daz 3D Library/Figures/Daz People, not in the Daz Studio Formats library. Hope this is helpful 🙂

As I said in my Manual Install sticky:

Set up a dummy install folder with just a ds.exe.

Select 'custom' & navigate to the dummy install folder.

Once extracted anything other than ds.exe in that folder is the install content.

Can you send a link to the manual?

@eegloo: Yes, I've done that, it still never works. There's more to it, including Windows registry keys it expects to find. I mentioned, some of the exe's were the very first run, and work differently from the newer generation installers (which worked/could be tricked).

Anyhoooo, I did a little snooping and it turns out the V4 and M4 pro bundles currently listed here at Zone are in fact fully DIM, no exe (finally!). So, I'm giving V4 another chance. :^)
