Last night while browsing, I came across 4 lingerie that did not exist outside of Rendo. I finally caved in and bought them, and of course, crafted DIM installers and uploaded them here.
Of course (again lol) within hours they're popping up elsewhere. https://prnt.sc/16ru2qm
    I expected that.
What was a pleasant surprise, at least at Shadowcore, was that they took the effort to re-host the files instead of leeching my MEGA links. https://prnt.sc/16ruzii

This is what it's all about... you can't be mad that "your upload" got spread, that's why we do it, to spread it around. You can only get mad for other distributors being lazy and using your links from elsewhere. Distribution of risk is the name of the game, and if one link gets taken down, it's always available at the other(s). Hats off to Shadowcore for being stand-up. :^D

If anyone sees something suspiciously familiar on another site, do check the link if possible to make sure it's distributing and not leeching. Now my question for the Staff is; if I find another site is using my MEGA link, is it an easy process to have my link changed here on a post? I think we need some way of dodging that risk... it's enough that I have one site taking data from my MEGA, it doubles when another site does it as well. (it would be really cool if we could manage our own links per post instead of putting the load on staff)

Also, I realize it would be better to have my uploads spread across mirrors. This is the first I've uploaded since the site renovation (looks good!) and I see we now have "download" and "mirror" links available on many posts. However, i did not see any clear way to make that happen on the upload page. Is there some markdown magic I have to do with the "multiple links" option to define a d/l and a mirror? It seemed like choosing multiple links would be a single download set providing separate URLs for parts of a split archive... so I just stuck with using MEGA for now.

Sadly, though I was a member since years ago, both my GFXPeers and CGPeers accounts have all been disable from inactivity. Kinda pisses me off, I was offline only a few months. There's no reasonable way to get in contact to get it re-enabled, I've been trying for like 2 years now. >.<
I'm stuck with the spillover on CGPersia, which is a wasteland of dead links and unfulfilled request threads.

No, there's not much honor among pirates, or courtesy. A request went out here yesterday for an item I had. I not only offered it for free but made and posted a direct Mega link to it. Not a word of thanks or even a fuck-you in response. I think I'll take the link down... fuck him. Not mad but I do expect common human decency.

Wow, that blows. But not everyone is like that.
    I hope.

    Now I'm sad. t_t

I noticed the guy in question hasn't been back here since he posted the request. So I may have been a bit premature in my condemnation. I realise that other people have RL to deal with.

I used to post things on KAT (RIP) and usually by the next day they'd be up on DazPoser/3dcu. I'm just glad there are still communities that aren't full of ads and broken links.

Wow... I was heavy into KAT.
I was online posting some help replies on some thread at the moment it got taken down. I clicked the send button, and... nothing.
A few hours later I stumbled across info on what went down. I was sad, real sad.
It seems all the greatest sharing communities go out with a bang eventually. BitSoup was the best private tracker group ever, I had an amazing ratio, and one day, *poof*

Same with Megaupload... I capped this one day when I went to visit it

Jeez, that was almost 10 years ago. I almost forgot the name Kim Dotcom. :^p

    Ah well, life goes on.

All my old (10+ years ago) Poser stuff was from torrents and quite a few of them were infected with trojans in those days. One particularly bad one forced me to re-format my HD to get rid of it. I still remember the culprits... Zygote Christmas Tree and the sub-dragon. Those were the days.

Well, a lot of those assets came in .exe installers, no? Terrible way of distribution.
I have all the V4/M4 stuff, never used any of it because it's all in .exe installers and only half of it installs at all without failing. Changes to Windows and to Daz since they were released make them essentially useless. At least I doubt they're infected, they're original files.

Well, I did some more snooping around, and my uploads are on more of the usual suspects' sites lol. Funny nobody's mentioned anything about Rendo assets being in DIM packages =^-^=

The perplexing thing is, few of the new great assets from Daz are leaking out. I've been waiting for one in particular...
Just goes to show that the leechers are leeching from the leechers. I'm betting it would be a good long while before those models leaked out if I hadn't liberated them. I wonder how long the snake can eat its own tail before the universe implodes or something.
I guess I'll have to break down and make a legit Daz account to buy a couple things (I got a couple of burner accounts to "experiment" with things. It turns out DIM is fine and firewalled, but Daz Connect is troublesome).
Or maybe offer an outrageous bounty and see if someone here pops it out :p

This one asset *is* on *one* odd site I never saw before. I went through all the hoops to make an account, and get set up with their private upload host, and uploaded a few files to generate the points needed to view links (no "free" points like here). I came back today happy that I had enough points to finally open the link.
Imagine how PISSED OFF I was to discover that once you do get a link, this private host is a PREMIUM ONLY service. You gotta pay $15/month to be able to actually download anything... something that was *never* mentioned in all this process, and nobody there seems to be talking about. You only find this out after you try to download something. WHAT A SCAM.

I think a lot of those sites get a kick-back for linking premium service hosts, and maybe that's their complete modus operandi. It is with a whole lot of porn sites. SkyBack leaches a lot but does seem to have some stuff before it's released here. Desire FX has some really good 3D but the best of it is linked to premium accounts, and you'll need to convert it for DS if you can download it.... see my free stuff. These days the leachers are so lazy they don't even bother to re-upload their own download links, just copy and paste.

Spaketh Amber: "Once you put something out there (especially in regard to pirated content, but it also applies similarly to image content for artists) it’s virtually guaranteed that it’s going to be spread around."

...well, only if it's worth having. 🙂

I'm still amazed at the longevity of some stuff, starting with pretty much all of the stuff for Vicky 4 (which came out in 2005-2006?)

PS: For your ancient .exe stuff that you were unable to open due to age? Have you tried running the executable in Compatibility Mode? Oftentimes that does the trick nicely.

"Imagine how PISSED OFF I was to discover that once you do get a link, this private host is a PREMIUM ONLY service."

Like Frank said - there's often massive kickbacks involved. If it's something I really want, I'll go to the troubl4e of ramming the premium link through a link-gen site (because f-k 'em, that's why), but it usually turns me off from ever visiting the CG site again... ever.

    @frank22

I'm in the same boat. I filled a request for points. Sent the link, member has been on and off but not a word, no thanks and no points.

It happens. It's just how some people are. All that can be done is be the change you want to see, I think.

I'm still puzzled about 3dru.net Registration is closed and its Facebook page is abandoned, but new content is still published every week to a group of people that can only get smaller.
