After 10 months of trying I was finally able to purchase a 30X0 series NVIDIA card. I actually won a bleeping Newegg Shuffle. I was able to get a 3080 Ti video card. I am beyond psyched to get my hands on it and start rendering. I've probably used up all my luck, but for now I'm happy as can be.
The 3080 Ti is getting bad reviews on the Youtube sites, but only because of the price hike over the 3080 and not how it performs. It's an excellent GPU and I wish I had one too.
I'm hella jealous but i'll continue to hold out until i can find a 3090 for under 2k. Papi needs that 24 gigs of gddr6x vram. 🙂 congrats though!
When something has a derivative market the crash is inevitable. It's always happened in the past and always will in the future. Cryptocurrency derivatives...mmm... who wants to bet the house on that? Tranche based cryptocurrency securities? Sign me up! They are real, they're traded and they're banned in a couple of European countries. And still it goes on...
The GPU shortage is a confluence of a Black Swan event (Covid) and crypto market stupidity. Sit it out and reap the rewards when it all comes tumbling down and supply exceeds demand.
Until then you might be able to pick up a crypto-neutered 3060 12Gb for a reasonable amount (running at about the equivalent of 400-500 Freedom Dollars in Europe at the mo).
Winning a lottery to get a right to buy something is not a lottery any of us are used to. You've. Won. The ability. To Buy. What a world this is at the moment.
But I'm also jealous of the 3080Ti 🙂
I'm hella jealous myself...I was trying for that same shuffle - trying for the EVGA and the Gigabyte @ $600 USD. Wasn't selected for either one of them...

LOL...if I thought it would really do me any good, I probably would. But seeing as how some of these people actually have server farms with rooms full of boxes with dozens of vid cards each??? yeah, it probably wouldn't even be worth my time to set something like that up. I would probably have better luck finding alien life with SETI @ Home... 😀
