not sure if this is even possible:
Can the icon 'feature' be turned off when DS saves a render?April 24, 2021 at 5:05 PM #1686335Umm, could you do a screen shot of what you mean coz I'm not sure what you mean by 'feature'.
ThanksApril 24, 2021 at 6:08 PM #1686357Not sure about anyone else, but when I save a render in DS, it also saves an icon. for instance, I save a render named Filename.png, I'll end up with that file, and another right next to it named Filename_png_icon.png
April 24, 2021 at 6:15 PM #1686359Yeah, it gets annoying. I got rid of it but I don't quite remember how I did it. There is no turn off/on feature for Daz Studio.
I just created a new directory to save to and it hasn't created .icon files sense. I think it creates .icon to the first/default directory render you set up. If you save it to a different folder from the default/first one, it should stop creating .icon files.
Also, don't open the "Render Library" tab. That will also regenerate the .icon files.
April 24, 2021 at 6:16 PM #1686360It might be the fact you are saving as png?
Personally, I save renders as jpgs.
I have never had DS try to create an icon for a render.
:0/
Mind you I save to a remote location not referenced to the Render Library, I think that will be the more likely reason.
April 24, 2021 at 6:42 PM #1686364I think it is used for your render library the one you can view inside of your DAZ studio, it is like a thumb nail like thing I do believe.
April 25, 2021 at 8:07 AM #1686507yeah, the different folder would most likely get rid of them...
As far as thumbnails are concerned, rendered pics that get put in the library show up same size as a thumb, and when you 'mouse over', it shows a nice sized view of the render. So, there is no good reason to even have them.
I wonder if the coders @ DS would eliminate some lines of code to get rid of them...April 25, 2021 at 6:21 PM #1686672I agree - icons are a must for the scene library since there is no other image associated with a duf file. But since an image file can be its own icon, then it seems a needless waste of disk space (a small waste, I admit, especially with multiple terabyte drives, but still a waste just the same).
