You guys seen the specs on the new Nvidia 3060 coming out next month?

12GB of RAM and 3564 CUDA cores for $329 a pop. Probably one of the best budget render video cards to ever see the light of day. I have two systems. One for rendering animations, which I will replace my bank of 5x P4000s for the 3060 units. 12GB of freaking RAM. That's just bleeping awesome at that price point. If money is tight and your current video card sucks, that is definitively the way to go.

The other system I use to do my actual work and crank out still renders. I was saving up for a 3090 for it, but screw that. Will go for the new 3080s coming out this summer. The new 3080s will have 20GB of RAM with the 8704 CUDA cores. Price point should be around $800. Way better than $1500 for the 3090.

The thing is if you are able to snag one 😀

Very true. I am going to do something I rarely do. I am going to try and pre-order them to see if it increases my chances any. 🙂

You guys are finding GPUs at MSRP?

I was able to snag an Aorus 3090 Master at MSRP but in a combo with a PSU that I didn't need and resold for the same price I paid the very next day. I actually "saved" 30$ with the combo. So, in the current situation, I feel pretty lucky. I was checking NewEgg's website like crazy and when they have stock, it goes in minutes so you have to be very quick...

this year (well last) has been insane with gpu, i have been trying to snatch a 3080 on release day which seemed an awesome deal at the time with 10gb of ddr6, i paid more or less mrsp (50 buck extra) for an asus card and imagine the odds, since september i am 40th in queue, so i was foretold i might get it next summer, just in time for when.. there is another one coming at the same price with 20gb!! that's absolutely insane and horrible to read. Both Nvidia and AMD really did a number on us, and even around xmas when i wanted to get a simple 1650 super for my (now ex) gf, for her to play videogames with, i paid and.. i am still waiting for it too! ffsake, it now seems gpus are the rarest of items and one buys and gets it delivered months afterwards 🙁 i am very very disappointed.

The 3060 is a sweet deal for you in the US, here the launch price is set at 499 euro (600$) and it's already impossible to pre-order it. I had ended on a page where one could buy it before it became sold out, but having already ordered and paid for for 2 GPU i did not feel like investing in a 3rd lol. If you can get one, excellent deal for sure!

man, 3080 at $800 was really a good deal, in my country because the VAT, and luxury goods tariff, the price of 3080 is whooping $1500, and 3060 at around $900-1100, and those GPU still got sold out very fast, the available one have more bloated price

It seems a lot of people can only get any of the 3000 series by buying pre-built systems. Taxes where I live are insane so I'm waiting for my parents to die and leave me some cash.

yes it seems the only way to get a series 3 is to indeed buy a readymade pc, i've seen a lot of configurations where magically you get a new card installed but if you only want the card, forget it! it's super weird.

I mean, I got an RTX 3090 for $1,800 on craigslist. We just had to meet up at the Police Station because I wanted to make sure the dude wasn't trying to rob me. Worth it for me.

@Darth Malgus, sounds cool! But I hope he did provide a proof of purchase and that you can still have the warranty for the card, I wouldn't really buy second hand smth so new without being sure of being sure it's legit. I also wish you good fun rendering, lucky you!

Yes he did. Before we met, I asked him if he could give me the receipt, which he did from Amazon. I even got a code for the new Call of Duty that came with it. The guy was not a gamer, so he didn't care to keep it for himself.

And your right, gotta have the proof of purchase because anything could happen to it.
