Hi,
I've read lots of people are having issues with the new Genesis 8.1 Female and 8.1 Male not working properly or files missing or it coming up as a big blocky thing.
BASICS:
you need to have the following things done in order for the G8.1 figures to work properly:
1) Install DS 4.15
2) Install the Starter Essentials for G8M/G8F (they have been updated and are in your downloads)
3) Install the G8.1 figuresEverything should then work fine.
USE DS 4.15 -- If you are using DS 4.10, 4.11, 4.12, 4.13 or 4.14 - in the 4.11 version Dynamic Hair wasn't even introduced, it started with version 4.12+, and each version afterwards less than 4.15, won't work with Genesis 8.1 properly.
Also make sure your NVIDIA Drivers are up to date.
Hope this helps.

January 27, 2021 at 8:03 pm #1661824Sensible, rational advice there, Anja.
🙂January 27, 2021 at 10:33 pm #1661844Figured out a workaround for Fit Control (it's stupid easy):
I realize I answered a post in the request forum (/me waves @ eelgoo ), but it might be useful information here. They don’t have Fit Control that works on Genesis 8.1 yet, but you can still make the original Fit Control for 8.0 work.
Here is exactly what I did to bang it into place on an 8.1 Dollie, using a typical bra, panty, shirt, and jeans:
1) load the 8.1 figure, and get her dressed with all the stuff I want Fit Control to work on.
2) load the 8.0 (Old Genesis 8) figure, and for each of the clothes I put on 8.1, “Fit To” the 8.0 figure (“Fit To” is in Parameters -> General -> Constraints )
3) after that, add all the Fit Control morphs to the clothes
4) once you’re ready, take those clothes and “Fit To” the 8.1 figure again. The pair of jeans that fit all wonky, but cranking up collision a couple of notches (and smoothing a notch) fixed it. The rest of the clothes (the shirt and underwear) transferred just fine and the Fit Control morphs work as advertised from a quick bit of sampling I did.
Thanks so much for this pooper! - AnjaBear, Moderator
March 12, 2021 at 1:58 am #1674314I had same problem but still on 4.14 so will remedy that.
As far as the IRAY video drivers I don't have an Nvidia card in this PC.
The video system has never been an issue for me with any characters in the past?
March 12, 2021 at 12:03 pm #1674425I think alot of the problems with Genesis 8.1 figures go away completely with the installation of 4.15 - as according to Daz, the Genesis 8.1 figures are literally based on 4.15 going forward. At least that is what I have heard from official Daz PAs out there.

March 12, 2021 at 12:24 pm #1674433I have also found a quite handy trick here:
To re-enable G8 expressions for G8.1, do the following:
- - Navigate within your content directory to …dataDAZ 3DGenesis 8Female 8_1MorphsDaz 3D
- Right-click on the “Base Pose Head” directory and “Send To…” -> Compressed Zip Folder
- A new Zip file containing the directory should appear. If not, stop and do not continue until you confirm the directory is zipped and safe (for later restore if needed)
- You can now delete the “Base Pose Head” folder
- Right-click on the “Expressions” directory and “Send To…” -> Compressed Zip Folder
- A new Zip file containing the directory should appear. If not, stop and do not continue until you confirm the directory is zipped and safe (for later restore if needed)
- You can now delete the “Expressions” folderNow load a G8.1 Female and both your G8 and G8.1 expressions should work.
Moderator: Good trick @hottehue, thanks for this one! The backup is very important, glad you included it. - AnjaBear
March 25, 2021 at 6:39 am #1678520Hello everyone, can't find the genesis 8.1 strarter essentials :/
March 27, 2021 at 1:33 am #1679066The Genesis 8 Starter Essentials include the 8.1 in them, and should have been updated as part of your Daz Studio downloads. If you go into your product download library in your Daz Account, and look for Daz Studio as a product, it will show all the Essentials packs included under Daz Studio itself. You can look for the 8.0/8.1 pack and it should also be shown in the Daz Install Manager (DIM). To use Daz Studio everyone must have an account with a registered free copy of Daz Studio in it.
You should find the various Starter Essentials packs (Genesis, Genesis 2, Genesis 3, and Genesis 8 (updated to include 8.1) there.

April 28, 2021 at 4:29 am #1687425I have question.
I tried to export cloths with .obj extension and try import to CC3, it works well.
But when export hair, it's messed up when import to CC3.Any plugins or setting export from DAZ for hair as .obj and ready to be used in any software?
Thanks
July 26, 2021 at 4:25 am #1714938I believe Genesis 8.1 Fit Control is up to date.
August 3, 2021 at 4:05 pm #1717415Import the hair separately from your character in CC3. When the import options appear, be sure to select the hair category. You may need to re-size the hair within CC3 to ensure the scalp surface fits properly. I have done this successfully, though I don't have it open at the moment, so apologies my advice is not more specific.

December 7, 2021 at 8:22 pm #1755775I'm looking for a mesh/geoshell for Genesis 8.1 Female that I can use to add dforce simulation to breast, buttocks and legs, that won't interfere with genital geoshell or vise-versa.
Does anyone have a suggestion for products to use for G8.1F or a technique to get the desired results?
January 16, 2022 at 5:13 am #1767369ok so i have 4.16 and im still getting these messages with a majority of my downloads. Im new to this so any help would be great
January 17, 2022 at 11:08 am #1767733SOLVED.
Uninstall Genesis 8 Female or Male Essentials using the install manager (whichever doesn't work for you) and download + install it again using the download manager. - - Navigate within your content directory to …dataDAZ 3DGenesis 8Female 8_1MorphsDaz 3D
