    Do you guys open up your firewall to use these? I don't for privacy reasons, but am actually not sure if it is necessary. Please enlighten me. 🙂

    Certainly not.

    I manual install, & I have never needed it.

    I use smart content - dim install and have had no issues postgresql. I have also never made a manual firewall exception for it.
