I wonder if it would be possible to improve zonegfx's search engine. Or are there any secret methods for more precise search?
Just recently i was searching for a single "Cap" and got 184 pages of results, containing the letters "cap" in it, but none of which an actual cap, which i was looking for..
Actually i got frustrated after page 3...Thanks
Is there a way to upvote a suggestion? 'Cause this wins the internet, for me.
I mean, ideally, the search engine ought to allow for boolean arguments (AND/OR) and exact spellings (maybe through use of quotation marks (") around the item... That way you could search inclusively "all entries that include 'cap' somewhere within the text" or exclusively "all entries that contain 'cap' alone and outside of other text."
I have found that if you were to use several words (i.e. sexy sweet dress), that you end up with, what seems to me, to be the most literal results at the top, then whatever combinations that occur, whether they be in the actual title or in the body of the post.
Say, for instance you found something on another web site with the words 'long' and 'sexy' in the title. You can come back here and enter just those two words, and though you will get a list of results, you will soon see that none of the results have both words in the title.
Or, perhaps there is a unique word in the title, for instance 'buttercup' or 'moonlighting'. You would end up with a null result (empty page with the words "Search results for: Whatever" at the top).
Your search parameters don't have to be exact phrasing, but using key words for a title search (or description) works [surprisingly] well considering the alternative!
And to the OP's request for 'secrets' in searching - don't use 'generic' words alone, as these will give unusable results. as I said earlier - use several key words together (though, not necessarily the exact title), and you may find the results a little more useful.Thanks for the replies.
Quotation marks unfortunately do nothing.
Well obviously there is no such product as "Collection of Caps" for instance, i know that, but still it would be nice if "CAPtivating" or "LandsCAPes" was not among the results.There are categories such as "Animals" "Hair" etc.. maybe a few more should be added. Like "head-wear" "shoes" etc. narrowing 'em down a lil bit.
So, anyway, I ended up looking for a 3D Model of a Cap on the internet, and imported that in DAZ. sometimes this is faster.

@duckface, Probably because, when you click a link on a web site, the URL will include the "referring site" so that the site that you're going to knows where you're coming from. While this service has its usefulness in terms of analytics, it would bring unwanted attention to places like Zone.
