Thank you @ADAM, but that's not the subject of the picture. It is the story of a girl who drenched with rain and snow in the cold dies on New Year's Eve.
A little point to think about:
Do you really think that anyone is able to light up am matchstick in this heavy rain? With that in mind the scene doesn't look very realistic.I've lit plenty of matches in pouring down rain and with wind. Both regular and stick matches, for camping and smoking.
I like the concept of the image , but have to agree with LP, (except the being shoeless). We don't know how or why she's there and in the predicament she's in. So, while having shoes, her pose could convey being cold by being more closed within the body.
Composition is paramount for a pic.

Le comento que realizando un análisis de su composición, muy sincera y resumida la niña de Handersen.s esta descalza, y otro importante detalle es una niña, la persona de su ilustración es casi una joven de sinuosos y exquisitos pechos.en la época victoriana que es el marco histórico de la obra las jóvenes así tenían que recurrir al desarrollo de actividades poco convencionales. para ganarse la vida pero sobrevivían. lo cual es un gran logro para las jóvenes de esa época con pocos o ningun recurso. eso es mejor que morir de frió como la pequeña niña del cuento que es la parte desafortunada que nos quiere ilustrar en su obra excelente imagen magnifica iluminación pero esta fuera de marco.
I read the full story after seeing the posts.
I envisioned her as a child that didnt want to get beaten by her dad for coming home without selling anything. Not as a playboy fold-out. However artistic interpretation is in the eye of the artist. Its horrendously sad story and probably happens often in different forms.
I'm sorta confused about people not knowing the story...
As for the image, it's not at all bad, but I do agree about it being too warm, and that a reposition of the camera would probably benefit the scene overall.

Me too but only blocking wind and/or rain with my hands and not holding it up in the air. IMHO it looks strange.
If its raining and windy I grab a lighter. I use to have a "windproof" lighters when I smoked and a zippo. when I went camping I took wax covered matches, lighter and a flint. Seem to remember maybe a few cotton balls for tinder. Its been awhile.
I've only heard "Little match girl" and that it had something to do with her trying to keep warm. Never knew she died.
I wasn't much of a reader and still don't read much unless its a subject I'm interested in. Even then Id rather watch a video on it.
They turned Gollum into 3 movies. Should have been either one long movie or maybe 2 but 3 was overkill. The Lorax got its own movie and from my recollection it was a pretty short kids book. If we werent visually oriented people we probably wouldnt be playing with Daz. Ive seen people do great stuff with less and awful stuff with more.
