Why do people still request filled posts be deleted?
Just type filled at the bottom of the thread. If you want the post gone so people dont ask you to post it then perhaps you should do the nice thing and post it. Spamming @Hunter to delete every post in the request forum seems annoying if people start thinking this is part of normal protocol.

So we just going to start ignoring rules again? I'll just post from the site FAQ.

If you have made a request and it has been kindly filled by another member, please consider doing the following.

    – Transfer the right amount of points as soon as you receive a pm from the poster.
    – Please close the original post with your thanks to the person who was kind enough to share the item.
    – Let Tomsk know the request has been fulfilled by adding a tag* to Tomsk so he may delete the post.
    – Doing so will earn you 100 points for your gratitude and consideration.

I would personally love to see all the filled and obsolete request posts be deleted, as it would make it easier to keep track. Personally, I think the whole Request forum should just be purged every say 3 months or so, and then people who still have items they've requested that hasn't shown up, would need to do another thread.

Currently, the request-forum is way overfilled, and while there might be stuff that could be filled, or even that has been filled, it's just too much to wade through.

Posting delete just fills the main page with spam. Dead threads will die on there own. Only a few people ask for deletion. Ive never requested a deletion as far as I can remember and its not cause a problem. In some cases it prevents re-request and shows whats in the wild. Some threads have multiple requests with some filled and others outstanding. The idea of a 2-4 timer on all request is nice. would prevent requests from a year ago popping up that I forgot.

You asked a question, I gave you the answer. Just because you choose to ignore the request of doing so, or have some sort of silly issue with it doesn't invalidate the actual request by the admins to do it. They want this, it literally freaking says so in the FAQ. Thus, as a good user, you /should/ be doing so. Also following the guidelines as asked would eliminate those old threads you forgot about, no?

You are correct. It doesnt help track trades and it promotes spam. There are lots of thing people should and should not do. This site itself is testament to that.
I should not eat ice cream on a diet but its sooooo good.
Perhaps ive gotten use to most people not doing this that ive corrected people who were following the rules. Kinda bad that we pick and choose what rules we follow.
Kinda like why we are here.

Per usual, Errilhl is correct. Purge the request forum every 3 or 4 months (or have an archive subforum) and let people who request stuff that didn't get it post it again. I've got requests that haven't been filled from over a year ago. And I've had requests filled over a year after I requested them and I forgot I wanted them.

ladyburger seems to be an idealist. We just aren't that tidy of a community to clean up after ourselves. It's like the the fridges at work - they clean them out at the end of every month and anything left in there is thrown away. Same thing needs to be done here imo.

And I agree with Adam: this place has gone from 80% plus of requests making it to the blog within a week when I first joined to now it being about 50/50 on whether filled requests will get shared with the community. Sad turn of events.
