Kochi Castle
Kochi Castle is a National Treasure. It is the only castle in Japan to retain both the original castle tower and it's palace.
After the Tokugawa victory of "Battle of Sekigahara" in 1600, Kochi Castle was constructed for the province of Tosa. Construction was begun in 1601 and was completed in 1611. It was built by Kazutoyo Yamanouchi who controlled the province of Tosa.
After about 260 years, Ryoma Sakamoto, famous for "Meiji Ishin (Meiji Restoration)" came from this feudal clan.
