Descendants of Spanish horses that were brought to the Americas by Spanish explorers in the 16th century, the name mustang was derived from the Spanish word mustengo, which means "ownerless beast" or "stray horse."
The mustang is between 13.2 to 15.2 hands high and is a light weight, athletic and intelligent horse known for its fantastic stamina and speed. Their small build, stockier legs and sure-footedness make them less prone to injuries, ideal for long journeys and a great choice for working cattle.
