FULL RULESThe contest theme is WINTER WONDERS. This theme is intentionally broad – I ask artists to interpret it as related to December, December Holidays, New Year, winter, or objects and moments of wonder. Members in the South are free to post warmer, summer December renders if they wish. I encourage (but don’t require) entries to be positive, heartwarming, cheerful, and/or celebratory.
–Render must be original, unpublished, and relevant to the Winter Wonders theme as described above
–Dimensions must be the banner size of 2048px x 1152px or larger. If larger, please post a link to a second, scaled-down version that is 2048 x 1152
–All submissions must include the site name ”ZoneGfx” in clear and obvious text. The text does not have to be the focus of the render, but it must be legible. The text can be added in postwork or directly into the render, at the artist’s discretion
–Submissions must be a 3D render done in Daz or Poser. (Other 3D rendering software may be allowed with prior permission; PM me). Post-work in Photoshop or other editing software is allowed. AI art is not eligible for this contest, with the exception of simple AI denoisers and upscalers.
–No NSFW, gore, politics, or otherwise inappropriate themes
–Only one entry is allowed per person. You may update your entry at any time before the contest deadline. I encourage entries to include a title and perhaps a few sentences about how or why you created it. You may post one or two additional renders for fun, as long as you designate them as non-entries.
Note regarding AI art: AI-generated art is not eligible for this contest. However, each member may post one AI-generated image (in addition to any 3D entry) if: 1) You clearly state it is AI art; 2) It’s related to the Winter Wonders theme; and 3) You tell us which software/website/generator created it. It does not need to be 2048x1152. Who knows, maybe there will be a separate “Best AI Art” award?
–The top three voted eligible winners will have their banners placed on the ZoneGfx splash page and also receive a hefty share of the points. If the pot grows, I may include other winners and entry prizes. All rules may change at any time as I see fit.
–Deadline is December 4th at 11:59pm EST. Voting will be held the following week.

I was thinking about the traditional christmas Things, santa etc, when I thought back to my childhood, and how as kids to earn some money, we would go carol singing, brought back a few happy memories, we dont see that nowadays round where i live.
So here we have me and my friends all grown up going carol singing, and any monies given would go to charity.

So.. I guess I'll enter one contest (FIRST AND LAST), aptly named: The Leg
This was my most difficult render yet..
As a Cleveland native, I figured what better way to represent the December Holidays than with one of the 'best Christmas movies ever created'. Also, while making this I found out they just released a 'true' sequel on 11/17/2022. If you don't get the reference, it comes from the movie called, "A Christmas Story.'
Attempts were made:
Single shot 360 frames (400 processing iterations per frame), looped animation. No layering. No post work besides being upscaled from 1280x720 to 2560x1440 in gigapixel, and music.
I.. might go back and layer it and add better/more animations.
Wanted to do something again with animals. After a while I decided to take some cats in a winter landscape who like to Listen to music. So I arranged a group of musicians and placed them on a stage. Unfortunately, the landscape was cold and gray. Some torches were needed. Then came the idea to use flames for the Zone logo. So I made single letters in Photo Shop and placed them into DZ on small flat squares, which I emitted. And the gray environment became warm and the musicians in their short dresses were not freezing anymore.... Have fun with We love Cats...
Winter, for me, is about snuggling up in front of a roaring fire and watching old movies on the TV. I might have a cheeky little vino collapso, and some onion rings or I might not... who knows?
I'm calling this one Tiny Dancer. I cranked up the emission on the floor of the snow globe, and I stuck a ghost light on top because there was just too much shadow otherwise. I put a point light inside the fireplace to get a better glow effect from the fire. I wanted the ZoneGFX logo to be a block of melting ice, but I couldn't get the effect I wanted so I ditched that idea, because there was smoke and blood oozing out of my 1060 GTX by that stage.
I went pretty far outside the box of traditional holiday images, right into my sci-fi/fantasy comfort zone, but I think it captures the theme. My original concept was a family or group of explorers discovering a family of Yeti in a winter scene. I couldn't make it come together and the idea evolved into this. Many thanks to @enjoyify and all who donated points!

When I was very little, my Mom would take us on the bus ‘to town’ at Christmas time to see the stores and how they were decorated (especially the big display windows). We also got the treat of eating at Woolworth’s lunch counter. There were various reasons given, but Mom just had tea and never ate, but us kids did – usually a hamburger and fries that we would split. It wasn’t until years later that I realized why Mom never ate. We were poor. I cherish those childhood memories and how my mom brought winter wonders into my life.
Winter Walk rendered in DS no postwork except cropping. IMHO it looks better in widescreen but the comp rules limit the aspect ratio.

A minimalist pic maybe, anyway there are everywhere, not only poeple, but "living beings" who are forgoten and not really happy during christmas time. So I create this allegory in the memory of all of them. Enjoy. And thank to all the donators.

Santa (and his elves) do things a little differently here in the tropics. It is truly a Winter Wonder to behold.

I have a mix of feelings about xmas. Kind of that
I hate it, but still have memories of the times when I liked it. I'm not a kid anymore, and I guess Christmas is basically for them.
