Probably because I stopped posting a lot. Also what I do post I usually set to expire so I can repost them other places at a later date. Id rather not people link me here with other accounts I have.
I recently posted this (https://zonegfx.com/forums/topic/dirty-guy/) you seemed to have overlooked. I renewed the link to this one (https://zonegfx.com/forums/topic/rendered-something/) Ive done better and Ive done worst.
If you don't want your image given feedback don't post and I'm not a cheerleader. If I like something its usually something I consider excellent or I see the person is heading the right way. I'm not always negative in reviews and hold my tongue a lot if I believe the person to be new. I said very little about this image other than the watermark and hiding the ear. I'm a far worse critic of my own renders and you could say little "real" feedback that I wouldn't take as constructive.
Sharing an image with crap written all over it isnt my idea of sharing. Thinking your art is somehow more spectacular that the millions of images online without marks is remarkable. Master painters dont sign the forehead of the subject in case someone decides to take a picture in a gallery. Add to that the foundation of the image is probably stuff obtained for free.
Could you tell by the style who made this?
March 4, 2024 at 6:46 am #2061849Correct. Im probably not as empathetic as I should be. I tend to say what I think and it doesnt always turn out well. My perspective is odd since it battles with itself sometimes. I would be extremely pissed if a person were to steal my phone but Ive DLed enough stuff from here to buy a
massive TV. From my slightly hypocritical outlook I dont see the need to watermark something thats not only probably made from mostly pirated items and to be honest is not in the upper leagues of 3d artist. At one time I did water mark a few pics. When I saw what others were uploading without watermarks I felt silly. I doubt that someone clipping a piece from your or anyones render is going to bankrupt them. Id be willing to bet the people you pirated feel the effect more.March 5, 2024 at 12:00 am #2062041I have literally never asked for critics on my art, or on the fact that I like putting my signature close to my characters, and yet you started flaming about how it sucks to put my signature there because "it ruins the image", I never thought this would end up in flaming, and such hostility has completely demotivated me on ever posting here again, cheers!
March 5, 2024 at 12:04 am #2062042And don't come at me with "you post something on the internet, you're subjecting yourself to such things" I know. I'm 25, I'm not 10. I've been on the internet since I was 5. I've been criticized many times before, and I never cared. But I've never seen ANY of it take such huge and petty proportions, and if it ever happened to me I'd just ignore it but you simply won't stop. I get it, you don't like that I put my goddamn signature on my characters shoulder, but you're blowing it up out of proportion.
March 5, 2024 at 12:56 am #2062048The only reason to sign a piece is
recognition(edit: meant reference) and recall, IMHO. That's the only reason I still do it, so if someone want's to know or remember who created this thing, it's there in the margin. (Of the original, anyway*.) I sometimes even make it almost difficult to find a sig by blending its color into the surroundings. Other times I'll make it stand out. But always in one of the bottom corners so as not to detract. But that's just me.
And it's all pointless, because...*Either way, there is absolutely no way to secure artwork you post into the wild. That's not an opinion, it's just objective reality. Even before AI, full spread watermark fields could be defeated with some effort. Now, forget about it. The fact of it all is, you post you relinquish - all. Expect anything more and you'll be disappointed quickly and often. Similar to censorship wars and "other people's kids" arguments, it's a slippery slope that can't be won. Even if the tech wasn't there to do it, people are creative and persistent. Whether it's "right or wrong", or "fair" has nothing to do with it. It's nature, it doesn't care. (And it's not personal. About as impersonal and anonymous as it gets, actually.) Much better, or at least easier, to change the mindset.
March 5, 2024 at 1:40 am #2062051For fuck's sake it's just some writing on a picture guys. No wonder the world's turning to shit when people argue about every-fucking-little-thing. Chill out and get some sense of perspective.
March 5, 2024 at 2:07 am #2062056Good point Frank.
Adam shut the fuck up and go away. Now you're just being an ass and damned ignorant about it too.
It would be nice if we had bozo filters on here. They where quite effective in the days of usenet...*plonk*March 5, 2024 at 2:18 am #2062057Cancel culture is the reason the world is fked up. Because you cant say 2 words without worrying about hurting someones ego or feelings. If words hurt you the internet is the last place you should be. The first part of destroying a society is taking away their freedom to speak freely. For now I live in a country where speech hasn't been totally obliterated.
@katdume
Sometimes you dont have to ask for something to get it. By posting it in the art section you invite feedback from others. If all you wanted was a cheering section Im not sorry to disappoint you. I invite feedback on my art because even if its bad feedback it helps me improve. If you dont wish to improve and like defacing your art then why are you posting?
@frank22
Its the internet and people are people. Things tend to get blown out of proportion easily and escalate quicklyMarch 5, 2024 at 3:02 am #2062062Adam, there's a difference between posting useful constructive criticism and being a massive chode.
You're doing the latter, my dude
March 5, 2024 at 5:00 am #2062071I stated an opinion. Some didn't agree with the opinion. I defended my opinion. People disagreed and decided I was a chode. If thats the case Ill wear the badge proudly. Might I have went a bit to far? possible. Might they have instigated it further? possibly. I said very little in my first reply. If you look it said 2 things. I dislike the ear and the water mark. I find neither criticism overtly hostile or disrespectful. My second and third reply basically insinuated I thought it was silly to screw up the image. The other replies weren't even directed to the poster they were at people jumping into the conversation. Just like you. People assume others haven't enough mind to defend themselves apparently and rush to save them from the evil chode. Congratulations you've saved him. Ill spend the rest of my time rendering something and not replying further to the thread. If you'd like to argue your point feel free to PM me but don't expect a warm welcome.
