    @frank22 Just start with a simple workflow, and slowly add things that you want.

    Or download one from Civitai. It was much simpler than I thought to learn it, you just need to have the node manager extention to handle custom nodes, the rest is fairly easy.

    After that, you can make it do some pretty cool stuff.

    @frank22 I've used Flux in ComfyUI and ForgeUI. My GPU only has 10 GB RAM, so I've been using FP8 models instead of FP16. Forge is much faster than Comfy in producing images, but Comfy is far more versatile in what you can do to create the image and what you can do with it once you've produced it.

    The Forge interface is simpler and easier to work with. If you've been using Automatic 1111 for Stable Diffusion you'll feel right at home with it.

    Comfy, when you've got a bunch of nodes up and running, looks like a map of the London Underground, and you'll spend as much time connecting nodes as you will producing images. That's the downside, the upside is that you can save your workflow, so you can have one for whatever specific project you're working on.

    For speed, and ease of use, Forge is the best option, but if you want more control over what comes out, Comfy is the way to go.

    @littleevie I doubt that people spend more time connecting nodes than making images in ComfyUI. I created my workflows, and yes, it took me a while to make them perfect for my needs, but now they are perfectly saved (and backed up), so I can easily load them up.

    Also, there is Civitai, where you can download them (check the #1 guy there for Flux workflows, has tons of them).

    As for speed, ComfyUI should be way faster than Forge, at least my sdxl generations are, i haven't used Forge since Flux came out

    @legolas18 Once you've got your workflows set to your liking, and saved for future use, everything in Comfy is fine, but adding a new node and getting the connections linked can be a pain in the nether regions. If, in setting up your own nodes, you never had a moment where you wanted to rip your hair out because you couldn't find that one, single, broken, connection, then I tip my brolly to you.

    With SD1.5 and SDXL it's fast, I'll give you that one, but with Flux, it's like wading through treacle. Maybe with a higher-end GPU, it would match Forge for speed, but on my machine, it's not even close.

    It's still on my drive though, and I still use it, just not so much with Flux.

    @littleevie Thankfully, I have never had such a moment. If i do, i typically run the program and I see where the error is (is a node with a red outline).

    I just learned by googling how to add say ControlNet or Adetailer...and it was been quite satisfying to achieve what i wanted.

    I get it's not for everyone, though. It took me a long while to get into comfy, but with Flux I had to, since I really wanted to try it (when it first came out) and there was no other option.

    I will have to wait until back permanently in the UK to consider a new desktop - by then I will probably be looking for an RTX 6090 as well... LOL.. 🙂

    Until then I now have my new shiny - early Xmas gift to self - Alienware-M18-R2-RTX 4090 to finish installs and play with [even if only 16GB vram].

    As my AI stuff is on my other laptop, and wanting to get the best from this one, what would you suggest as the best new set-up, with some decent How-to guides for newer stuff?
    I like the look of the flux stuff, but believe it is not yet compatible with A1111.

    If not an imposition - what would be your suggested 'idiot's guide' to fresh installing of things?

    @fuzzy3000 - As for installation and keeping things tidy I used Stability Matrix. Everything installed without a hitch and I was very happy with how it works. RTX 4090 should have 24gb VRAM?
    OT edit - I just had the best lunch ever, bánh mì with loads of fresh chili. I can't believe I haven't had these things before.

    The only way Frank could get a 4090.... nah I better not.

    @Frank22

    Alienware is a laptop - 16GB [mobile] not 24GB 🙁

    @Legolas18

    Saw there was a Message/Notification from you - but when clicked on thread link nothing found [??]

    16GB [mobile] OK I see. Still a very good GPU to have.
