and..... hundreds of Norse words become part of the English language.
Like the picture gaver.
There are a few things I could criticise about the image but none of them really matter.July 8, 2024 at 3:29 am #2082374Thnx Frank.
IT is seldom that everything checks out in a pic 😉July 8, 2024 at 6:00 am #2082387Question - the Art Showcase used to be a dead-zone with nothing much for weeks. Now it's really kicked into life. Is there something in the water?
July 8, 2024 at 6:11 am #2082388I have been occupied elsewhere for a while. I think it is kind of snowball effect, seeing pics makes you want to make youre own. Just a few people posting, but it is great to see what others do I think
July 8, 2024 at 6:14 am #2082389I like it. Multiple characters is always a challenge.
Only thing that may or may not be something to be picky about is I might have set the boat lower in the water. ( but I've not seen many of those ships so it may not be a valid observation)
If its something in the water only a handful of people are drinking it.
July 8, 2024 at 6:19 am #2082391@frank22 definitely the water 🙂
But whatever it is, I think more people should participate, I am very curious of some people's skills.
Unfortunately, imo, very few people can make something amazing with 3d rendering, so people might be shy about it?
@gaver As for my criticism of this render (and you know I like to do that 🙂 ), which I generally like, I'd like to give a few pointers:1) This image could really use a depth map, which you would then add in Photoshop. Otherwise, it looks to have very little depth :'(
2) I see a guy charging into battle, while there is no obvious threat to charge against, while the other Vikings seem to proceed forward more cautiously. He kinda looks out of place? 🙂
July 8, 2024 at 10:01 am #2082432depth map? ( reminder to self, google this) 😉
About the one guy...there is one in every crowd...big mouth strikes againJuly 8, 2024 at 10:06 am #2082434@Adam Viking longboats did not have much depth, they are flat bottomed ships,. It was an advantage when raiding because they could sail up shallow creeks etc.
July 8, 2024 at 1:16 pm #2082443@gaver Check this tutorial. It was called a depth canvas 🙂
But it can be used either as shown, or just as a fog effect. I think that you might find better guides for it though:

July 8, 2024 at 6:23 pm #2082465Thnx Legolas, I will give it a go ( as soon as reality gives me the time)
