Being a sailor is about sharing. In most cases you get back 50 times more than you contribute and in some cases people get back 10000 times more than they contribute.

I stopped posting here because people decided back door trading and posting only if you fulfilled specific point quotas or requests.

There are people that spend hundred if not thousands of dollars and request nothing in return. People share to share. I took a form of pride in being being the first to share an item and repay others that were kind enough to share with me and others.

This site as well as other sister sites make money off other peoples money. Who cares? They provide a service that lets us transfer items easily between each other. Putting points on it just promotes sharing for new members. Once you have half a million points, points don't matter.

If this site were to totally abolish the point system and require people post at least one product every 3 months as a token of gratitude for it hosting and for other sharing then I would probably start posting again. If you can afford the internet and a computer that will run Daz you can afford to post one $8 item every 3 months. If you cant afford it then perhaps you should have a limited amount of downloads per month as a result.

I came here on the tail end of a downward spiral that was initially a great experience only to see mods lose disinterest in running contests and members lose disinterest in sharing for the sake of sharing.

Ultimate we are whining about getting free products from people that spent hours if not weeks creating and then we toss them into the world for free. Most here dont give a shyt about if the vender cares. Pretty sure you'd be pissed if every paycheck you received was short -50% of your hourly wage because people you will never meet.

If a single user here can't do this, certainly it's not fair. C'mon. You can be poor but not being able to spend about 15-20$ in 3 months sounds like a lie...

    Let`s play a game

Hellp Ozzy catch a yummy bat named cov Solution!

    Objectives:
    1. Increasing the community
    2. Increasing the number of local contributors
    3. Strengthening the local economy

    Round one. Fight!

Trying not to fight the bull, but try to ride it.

    # What if we consider a referral program?
    To start a discussion:

    ## Regarding the open sites of leeches, making money only from advertising on their sites.

    ### The process on site of the owner of another site, let's call him Peter.
    1. Invite a person by providing a referral link to the asset here (zonegfx.com/some-cool-asset?refCode=94cdb9fa).
    2. Get a share of the points spent by the registered referral to receive assets, 15% for example.

    ### The process on behalf of a newbie (referral), let his name be Joe.
    1. Follow the referral link (zonegfx.com/some-cool-asset?refCode=94cdb9fa).
    2. Register here [goal 1].
    3. Let's get the first 100 bonus points immediately.
    4. Joyful Joe spends points [goal 3].

    ### System
Peter, who has previously uploaded content to himself, is motivated instead of providing Joe with a download link - to give his referral link to the post here.
No more time wasted re-uploading the file, and less work for Peter.
If a person (Joe) from Peter's site goes here [goal 1], gets an asset [goal 3] - Peter will get points.
Joyful Joe can get what he wants for these points [goal 3].

    > The system is started.

But stop. Joe sat, thought, and reasonably asked:
Wait, Ozzy, but I was paying for the domain name, hosting, wasting time and I needed a beer to relax. If my users stop visiting my site often. Where, then, should the money that advertising now bring from? I still need traffic, but with this approach, my users will no longer visit the pages of my site often.

Ozzy thought, this dude is right about something... What else can you suggest for him? Peter cannot pay for the site with points, beer for points is not sold yet either. We need something else here.

A rainbow-growling unicorn rides in Ozzy's sick brin. Looks like his had a tattoo on his ass - PROMO, on right, and CODES on left buttocks.

Write what you think about all this, while Ozzy gets wet in the ice bath, smokedup up another strange thought.

PS: This is a job for the @hunter, and here his opinion is also interesting.

If a single user here can’t do this,

Exactly what do you consider "fair"? Is it fair for the site to make money off something I upload for free? Is it fair for the artist to have his/her items basically stolen and shared? Is it fair for people to download without ever uploading anything? What is your perfect plan that is fair for Everyone? Please share what you would do to make sure everyone feels like they are treated fairly.

I would also like to know why you believe everyone that visits this site can't save $3 a month to contribute to saving $1000 a month. What would it take to do so? Skipping buying fries with a happy meal twice a month? Deciding to stay home rather than drive to the park one day? I'm not sure how you survive on a daily basis. If you pay for electricity, a computer that can run 3d software, pay for or drive to a place for internet, or use this freeware to do commissions to make money, have a normal job? Perhaps you should spend time looking for work rather than wasting away in front of a computer expecting others to provide you with free stuff? Heck they dont even have to buy anything, just upload something that isnt already here!

If you feel so strongly about not buying or uploading anything for the site I'm not sure why you expect anyone to post anything. Is it fair for people that cant buy anything to be bound by the point system? They can only download 2 items a day if they cant upload anything? Perhaps they feel thats unfair. Maybe 4 items a day or why not 10?

Ive suggested before that people that upload items get early access to items and then people that do not share have to wait for the item to become public a week later. This would give people eventual access to the item but reward people that actually contribute
    and arent leeches.

Feel free to put me in my place with an option that is better than what is being currently used because I feel its unfair and we need to make everyone happy. If even one person feels the system is unfair it is broken and needs to be fixed right?

Everything posted here is uploaded to other sites within minutes, seconds and sometimes before it even goes live. So ultimately whatever either of us think it doesn't matter. What matters is it gets shared. Tell me if you disagree with that perspective? If that is the only thing that really matters then there is no need for any system is there?

@ethiopia, it was the "elitist jackassery" comment that I took offense to 😉

soapbox: blender is heads and shoulders above DS in just about every way. Is there anything that DS can do that blender can't? And the things that blender can do that DS can't is a lot. However, as notenoughrupees points out, there is a steep learning curve and it is not as intuitive as DS is and not as easy to make adult content renders as quickly as studio. But that is because studio has an army of PA's constantly creating new content to fill all sorts of wants and desires. This keeps the masses dumbed down on how all these apps work.

Learn DS and you'll know how to use DS, and most of Poser if you're so inclined. Learn blender and you're well on your way to learning 3dsmax, maya, c4d, substance painter, and a lot of the other apps in the 3d modeling universe. If you take the time to learn DAZ's orphaned Hexagon, Bryce and Carrara apps, you'll find it takes as much time to get good with those as with blender, which is still better than all the DAZ suite combined. /soapbox

I'm with @d0gg0d. I haven't shared here in about a year. The ratio of leechers to seeders is just too great and things going from the blog to other sites within minutes is a disincentive to share here. imo, we need to make leeches wait a much longer time than 3 or 4 days. Either contribute or don't get access to new content for at least 2 weeks, if not longer. This site really is supposed to be about sharing. 3dload is about getting free shit. zonegfx was supposed to be more than that. Now, it's a den for private sharers of like minds to get together and share their content amongst themselves and almost never share it with the blog. We all saw this coming.

Believe me. The amount of content shared between members that doesn't make it to the blog is probably as much as the content that does. Forcing people to share or wait is a much fairer system.

@barcgwcc I've noticed that too. Some people (you know who you are) decide not to share with anyone outside of the filled thread and they also warn the people who they share their content with via PM not to share it anywhere. The site is slowly becoming a private sharing network between a few dozen people. There's a rule on the site where if you don't post the filled content on the blog within 1 week, anyone who got it via you on PM, has the right to do so. You can't forbid anyone to share when it's even in the rules.

I also talked with @eelgoo about this and he and I are on the same page. You can't stop other sites from leeching from zonegfx. It's like stopping a torrent site from getting torrents from another torrent site. It's not going to happen. There's always 1 place that gets their content first and then it spreads elsewhere. It's been the case for everything. You can't stop this unless you want to do a full private site access and even then someone will leak your shit because that's how it works. Just like people leak DAZ3D.com assets, Patreon assets, Renderotica assets, Renderosity assets, Renderhub assets and so on.

You are fighting against the wind @suwushi

@ace94 "You can’t forbid anyone to share when it’s even in the rules." Of course you can't, but the sharer can refuse to share with you again. Do you think that wouldn't happen?

    @plebby
And you think someone can't make a second account, transfer some of their points to their alt and then make requests on threads and then when he gets PMed he just posts it through their main account? Please.

@ace94 So your answer is to be a hypocrite and break the rules that you just brought to fore? Multiple accounts are supposedly forbidden. Anyway, if you don't like the way others conduct their sharing practices, and they could have legitimate reasons for doing so, then buy the item yourself. I had to do it only last week and I won't be crying my eyes out if I have to do it again.

@plebby Nowhere does it say in the FAQ or the Rules and Guidelines that you can't have multiple accounts. And I am not condoning that kind of behavior either. It just seems it's becoming more and more a private sharing site which I don't personally like.

    Round two. Fight!

Option "share or wait" sounds good. When i just consumer, and i`m glad any of option to get asset.

    ## Share, to get rank "early-access"
Here i see a little abuse opportunity. Reupload should not be counted. Only new content.

    ## Cost of content
And now i remember old question - why any post have equal points value to get link? Some assets may be greater than another. May be fair set custom points value for shareholder?
Here we have a little qestion, how to caclulate that custom points value?
Example of formule: Coeff from original sale price in usd to points * shareholder greed }:>

If i found realy cool and unique asset, i'm ready to wait, when i accumulate need points.

    ### Refferal context
If content points value will be higher - refferal bonus have more sense.

    ## Hype train traffic
Another thing - what if shareholder make delayed acesss link post?
Leech will return to the post page, waiting for the opportunity to get a link to the file.

    ### Intrigue moment
Delay between post and access is hidden, so here we have sense check post every day.

@ace94 I think you'll find that Hunter thinks differently on that score. It is encouraged to report multple accounts, however with that aside, here's something in the FAQ's that does address your complaint:

Because we are an open site, anyone is free to join and contribute to our continued growth.

With this we have to expect and accept certain things.
    – If a member wishes an item to remain private that is their right. Please see the section ’Sharing Items’ below.
    – It is to be expected that items posted here on ZoneGFX may appear on other sites shortly after they appear here.
    – This is unfortunately unavoidable due to the open nature of our site, and we ask for your understanding in this matter.
