G9 can't hold up to the hype, was to be expected. the main selling point, the 8K textures, are also the biggest drawback because there are simply not enough good resources out there for creating such highly detailed textures. so most of the new G9 characters will end up looking not better than G8 because creators will fill the bloated textures with generic patterns to fake the higher resolution.
V9 was just a tech demo that showed what a character can look like when skilled texture artists put really much effort in a single character.
Skin like sandpaper you say. I read one PA's skin texture EXIF data out of curiosity and found reworked Josie 8 textures on what looks like a higher end of the DAZ scale character only a couple of months old. DAZ must know, it passed their QA that doesn't seem to exist..... Kerching!
Goddamnit, I thought this might happen. Everything G9 so far has been totally shite, then along comes Pixie 9. She's so awesomely cute I might have to DL G9 just for her. Apparently G9 works with DS 4.15.... can someone confirm this? How much of a download is G9 in MBs?
Should I DL the Pro beta 4.21 and run it separately?
Edit - on second thoughts after a few hours, stuff it. No matter how much I like this model I just don't think it's worth the hassle of downloading all the stuff I'd need, particularly when it's only for one character.
