Hello, i have never installed a DAZ Studio plugin before. Does anyone can tell me how to?
July 12, 2019 at 12:39 am #1157914What plugin? anyway, they usually come with installer that make it easy to use, except if you don't install your Daz with default setting (i mean installing it in C:), you will likely experience the "Daz installation Path not found" error(if this happen just google the trouble shooting, there a great video to solve this issue easily involving with making a edit on registry), after you successfully install a plugin, go to Help in top of toolbar, in the drop down menu, click "about installed plugin", search you plugin, see whether it's already activated or not, if not click to activate it,and restart your Daz studio
July 12, 2019 at 12:57 am #1157929It's "Genesis Generation X2." It didn't come with an installer. There is only "AppData" and "DAZ Studio_4.5_(64-Bit)" folders.
July 12, 2019 at 3:34 am #1158067I'm assuming you are installing this from a zip file. If so, you need to extract the files to your C drive, assuming that is where your programmes are installed.
Here is how you install them. Extract them to C/Program files/Daz3D/Daz Studio4
Once that is done open up Daz Studio and go to Help at the top. From the drop down menu click on About installed plugins. There should be a list of your plugins. You may have to input a serial number which usually comes with the zip file. Check for any text files. It may be there, then input your serial number or copy and paste it. Now click on accept at the bottom and close down Studio. Next time you open up Studio check your installed plugins again and make sure the little plug sign is green. If it is then you are good to go.
PS: If you've already unzipped them you can copy and paste the files to the same path.
N.B. I suggest you do this while disconnected from the internet.
Good Luck.
July 12, 2019 at 1:01 pm #1158661It worked. Thank you, David!!

October 23, 2021 at 3:19 pm #1742628Thank you everyone for the insightful tutorials and asking this question. I successfully installed Genx2 according to the steps by Plebby but... GenX2 isn't showing Victoria 4.2 as an option under source, and this is the model I really would like to convert.
I'm guessing this is because my DS isn't recognizing my copy of it since I have my Poser runtimes elsewhere on an external HDD, not in the traditional DAZ location.
I have V4.2 but they're in the form of a Readme's, Runtime, and .DS_Store files. I'm not sure where to load them so they'll be recognized by GenX2. Does anyone have advice? Will I need to get V4 and V4.2 from the Daz Store?
October 23, 2021 at 3:51 pm #1742638If I remember rightly, all 4th gen figures use a different method of conversion than from Gen 5 and Gen 6.
There was a really good tutorial in an online magazine called Daz Studio Creative that covered GenX2 over three issues, starting with issue 17. I think you can still view it here: https://issuu.com/philatdsc/docs/ds_creative_17
I don't think you can download it as a PDF but you can still follow the directions there.
October 24, 2021 at 9:36 pm #1743117Can't download that from issuu, but there's a great tool to rip issuu pubs.
https://issuu.pdf-downloader.com/
Grab any pub and save as PDF.
