So I've been getting this a lot. And other than making my loading time longer, I don't see a difference. So I guess I'm fine if I'm just patient. But still, I'd like to know what that is and how to get rid of it.
The Daz forums weren't helpfull, as they just say to unstall stuff from your smart content and my problem with that is : 1, I want to keep my stuff if possible, and 2, I don't use smart content because it only displays what I payed for, sooo... well you know.
I tried removing stuff manually but that's like a box of needles dropped in a field of haystacks, if I may alter that expression. It didn't work.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks ahead.October 29, 2022 at 6:24 pm #1883524check the log file, see Help-Troubleshooting-View log file. What does it say? are there many or just a few duplicate formulas?
simplest solution is to delete the files with the duplicate formula, it's usually character morphs for me.
this bug occurs when a creator re-uses the same morphs for different products. the "duplicate formula" can be something as stupid as the slider color setting for a certain morph slider...
there is another solution, but i don't suppose anyone would ever do all the work and fix (edit&save) the duplicates one by one.October 30, 2022 at 5:23 am #1883675Look on the Daz forums. There's a script which may sort out the issues. You need to look in the log, and figure out which morph causes the problems. (It doesn't always work though... so there's that.)
I recommend that you keep on top of these issues as they arrive. Create a separate library, and test installs in that. Load in characters simply to find these issues, if you can't fix issues, don't install them in your main library.
October 30, 2022 at 5:28 am #1883676I've been dealing with this too. It started after I converted a few Gen 3 Guys to Gen 8.
I'm not sure if that is what did it, but deleting the conversions did not make it go away. I can make no sense of the LOG file... it's crazy. At least mine is.!
October 30, 2022 at 12:18 pm #1883920Found the culprit :
https://www.daz3d.com/daphne-for-olympia-8
Deleted her (manually*) and the error went away.* meaning : I looked at the log file and searched for the word "duplicate", found mention of daphne (devious dolls), searched online, downloaded it again just to see which files/folders it adds, looked for these files/folders in my library, deleted 'only' the daphne folders among those, as there's some other stuff that might be used for other models.
I was only getting this error when loading genesis 8 female, I'm guessing the others are fine. I don't use them anyway. And 8.1 should be the same as 8 probably.
October 30, 2022 at 12:28 pm #1883928Basically this is a good approach to the issue:
Open your log file.
It can be called up from within Daz Studio.
From the dropdown menu
Help / Troubleshooting / View Log File
Delete everything and save it.
Then load the base figure where you get the duplicate content error and open the log file again.
You should then see the file that is duplicate in the log file more easily. It looks something like “Duplicate formula found linking ….”
Notepad++ is good because it has a user friendly search function. Search 'Duplicate' it will increment to all itereations. It gives you the path of where the file is too.
Delete the duplicates & then Save As Support Asset, “Save Modified Assets”
YMMV
🙂
