@3dmouse I too was surprised that there was such a problem. At the moment the program is deleted from the computer, but there are remnants in the registry, which apparently do not allow to start the program. I would like to work in a stable program based on new developments, and then I put 4.22, then again something may not work (someone wrote about it). I am confused...
November 28, 2024 at 9:00 am #2105129@kelsie332 At the moment the problem is not with the renderer, but with running the program. This error occurs when I start the program, not during rendering. However, I will take your advice into consideration, because in the past (with other versions of DS programs), I have often encountered that I had this error, namely because of simulation of hair or clothes. I partially figured out the reason, which was stated right in the details of a certain content creator. There was a warning that there must be a powerful video card, that is, higher than a GeForce 1050 TI (I use). However, the program worked and I found ways to select that content that did not provoke crashes and errors.

Re 4.23, it looks like it really messed things up several levels deep: in the registry and roaming folders.
Just finished working with someone here with the same D|S 4.23 problem and they were finally able to uninstall it and run the D|S version they previously had.
Some people here have recommended free/trial versions of uninstallers. I can't speak to those, never having tried them, but the one I do have experience with is Revo Uninstaller, which has a 30 days fully functional trial version and is also on a Black Friday sale. I did try it, was satisfied and got a licensed version which I use to remove pesky software whenever it's needed from any of the 4 PCs in our home network.
Huge Caveat: when running, especially as it scans registry and roaming folders, only choose *the subfolders related to Daz* that have been targetted for elimination. When in doubt it's better to choose too little then re-scan than choose too much, if that makes sense.
I actually just finished using it for a minor problem on this PC as I wasn't happy with Slimbrowser's making itself the default. As I'm still on Windows 7 my choices are whatever will run on that OS. I got SB deleted, then installed Supermium and the last version of Brave that runs on W7, bringing my browsers up to 11

https://www.revouninstaller.com/products/revo-uninstaller-pro/The guy I worked with got 4.23 and it took a lot of elbow grease because 4.23 was really deep and stubborn. After that he needed to reinstall his library which was almost 2 TB (mine is 1.8 TB so no judgement from me XD ).
When you get it done, if you need a clean version of D|S, I have installers from 4.0.2.35_Win64 to 4.23.0.1_Win64. For GoZ I haven't been as diligent in downloading those, so there's a gap.
Hope to get copies those the to Guy Axworthy at f95Zone before Christmas 😛
Hth!
November 28, 2024 at 9:29 am #2105134@daniel45 I've already deleted the program so I can't use it. Thanks for sharing. I'll keep it in mind.
November 28, 2024 at 9:35 am #2105135@worda I have already uninstalled the program, but I can reinstall to try this method. Thanks for the tip!
November 28, 2024 at 9:42 am #2105137@gaver Where can I get the 4.22 program? Only 4.23 can be downloaded from the official website
November 28, 2024 at 10:23 am #2105146Just out of curiosity, did you generate the error log that the popup message asked you to? It could be caused by underlying issues with some driver/system files or some other misconfiguration. Or, may be due to corrupted program data stored in your user folders such as "%APPDATA%\DAZ 3D". You may want to backup that folder if you value any of your existing DS configuration.
In the registry, all relevant data is under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DAZ\Studio4. You can backup the key before deleting it, but I won't recommend it yet.
Besides the error log suggested in the message, did you check the Studio logs at "%APPDATA%\DAZ 3D\Studio4\log.txt"? What about the windows event viewer's application logs?
Instead of just shooting arrows in the dark, why don't you first focus on identifying the root cause?
December 2, 2024 at 8:13 am #2105913@sandeep I'm having a hard time finding the root cause, so I asked for help in chat. I probably can't see the error log because I uninstalled the program via DIM. But I also installed DS manually on another disk, but apparently I made things worse. The error happened again, and I uninstalled the program again. So I have previously had versions 4.22 and 4.23 installed, but on different disks. Neither of them works!
December 2, 2024 at 8:37 am #2105917@3dmouse Thank you for sharing your experience. I too own a giant library and have to reinstall it, but that's not the worst part. I'm still going to have to reinstall the operating system now because something is wrong with it. The computer hangs even when idle or gives strange errors and then reboots. So far I have a few hypotheses to test. Oh, again a lot of problems to sort out on the eve of New Year's holidays.
I will be very grateful if you share version 4.22. I regret that I did not collect them, although I had the opportunity. But I hope you will help in this matter.

I once had a similar issue to yours. Whenever the graphics card was under load, I’d get error messages, daz would crash regardless of its version, and sometimes the computer would freeze. Initially, I thought it was a problem with the graphics card, so I disassembled it and reapplied the thermal pads and paste, but the issue persisted. After running several benchmark programs to diagnose the problem, I discovered that the power supply was the culprit. Despite having a sufficient power supply for my rig, it couldn’t properly deliver power to the system for some reason. In my case, completely cleaning it, including removing all the dust accumulated on the capacitors, fixed the issue. You might want to check your power supply as well.December 2, 2024 at 11:21 am #2105939I will be very grateful if you share version 4.22. Sent a PMDecember 2, 2024 at 1:15 pm #2105960I don't know if you got this issue ironed out yet or not, but there's a problem with one of the common files for OOT hair products. Check your library in data\outoftouch\OOT Hairblending 2\ OOT hairblending 2 Hair\ there should be just one file in there, "OOT Hairblending Hair.dsf" if the date is anything *before 2023 (my file is dated 1/5/2023) then it will cause Daz to throw a fatal error or issues with iray not working in the scene or when trying to render. I keep a rar with the newer file handy just in case there are issues with any products I install overwriting it. If you have the older file (I think it's dated 2015 or 2017 if I recall) just replace it with the one from a newer product with the more recent date and see if that helps.
Having said that, I've had issues with the latest public release closing on me a lot more often than the previous release. I've not figured out the problem, I just save my scenes frequently. There's a scene saver utility available, but I haven't tried it.
If you need the file let me know and I'll send it to you, it's not very big.December 2, 2024 at 7:22 pm #2106014Since it is a application crash message chances are very high that the windows event logs would have an "error" entry in the application logs section. You will find them in the Event Viewer. Even if you had uninstalled daz studio, these log entries would still be there, since these windows logs are not managed by daz studio. Worth an investigation I would suggest.
December 3, 2024 at 9:35 am #2106096@dinkdank I have an initial suspicion of the power supply, which has already been replaced this year (due to the death of the first low-power one), but the second one is also low-power. I'll definitely do a cleaning if it's dusty or replace it. Thanks for reminding me of this!
