Just my few cents, I did not read on the various forums that DS5 will change its infrastructure (QT being the culprit), which means that the ridiculous problems of abyssal loading and posing (even zeroing) times due to mismanagement of memory and morphs (they sell... and ask to delete to improve your loading time... even when you do not use them) will linger on.... This will kill their marketing strategy as it has almost killed my creativity (I waste more time loading than rendering in spite of the various partial solutions discussed elsewhere !). I did not know they had again changed their teams, it was already almost impossible to rework old code, now I do not think they have the means to build something from scratch (but sure they can crash what still barely works). Sorry for being negative, I am afraid this is all 8.1 marketing com and no substance again. I would probably pay for a decent (functional) DS but I have lost faith.

Maybe they will update their FBX supportv?
Would be nice to import 3rd part rigged charcters and be able to pose them.

I reread that thread and there is no word either on memory leaks(which i am sure this program has) or on loading times. If i can do renders with urneal using daz assets without importing exporting and all that i will. Either that or i will stop entirely. There is no fun in having 10 mins to load a scene, render the whole crap overnight only to redo it next day because a wall is poking here and there. Even the viewport is lagging like hell.

When i had only 30-40 assets this issue was non existent so i believe daz either reads all 600 assets now or loads all of them even if they arent used.

i also found curious the "urgency" in the very first post. Like they want to be in time for something(maybe a new program coming out or some hardware dunno just speculating)

For assets, I hear getting a SSD drive helps alot. Too bad you can't get one above 2tb. At least I haven't seen any, and I have around 1.60 tb of assets, so I'm sort of stuck with my 4tb hdd. Which sucks because I have to wait around 3 minutes for a figure to load.

Three minutes seems very slow even for a HD. I think it's down to how many morphs you have installed. I try to keep mine to a minimum. I often get characters for their textures and don't install the data files for that reason.

And when all is said and done, in some far flung utopian paradise, all DS versions, Iray and Nvidia drivers will live in harmony and work together faultlessly, for the benefit of all creative people.

What @frank22 said about the HDD taking a long time to load figures.

    @fuzzy3000
, LOL at that. No creative Ngreedia drivers for people with 900 series cards either.

This is just funny: Announcing new major version and the only new feature advertised is Broken compatibility for old content and this broken thing working on MAC. As at this time there are any mac users left LOL
As I remember Daz stopped working on mac when apple moved to arm CPU and they promised to port it to arm eventually so version 5 is that same port to Mac with no new stuff.

The only difference I can see is that Daz moved from qt4 to qt5, But there is no hope that any interesting features will be added. probably next few years will be spent just chasing bugs.

As usual developers keep total secrecy about everything they are doing and ignoring all user requests.

It does not help that much although keeping morphs on SSD may be good idea.

anyway as I know you can split content directory into diffrent forlder and drives daz will use it all.

also if you need bigger drive make raid array of your ssd drives

I'm still trying to find an older version of daz when dforce was introduced.

I do have like a hundred morphs installed (from all the characters) so that probably is it, I also have a rather slow external hdd.
