I have a thing about characters imbedded within PA-named folders because they're hard to find when you're looking for them. But seeing this will be manually installed I guess most will put the MargeHD folder directly into their G8 characters folder un-nested, well I would anyway.
Did you plan to use this to package her?
[https://www.daz3d.com/content-gatherer]December 31, 2024 at 3:08 am #2111221I didn't know that existed, I've been pulling the files out manually lol. I made a batch file to list all included files/folders for the in-depth readme file but everything else was done by hand.
What exactly does that do Frank? I'm guessing it creates an install file for the daz installer? I'll have to look into this, very interesting; thanks!
EDIT:
Found this, both look very useful. Thanks for mentioning your preference on the character preset location, I did have those in both the ...RCC/RCC Marge HD.. folder and the character folder but figured people would want only the RCC one.
If you did download this to use, would you want the character preset inside both he "character" folder and "RCC" folder?
December 31, 2024 at 3:25 am #2111225It just creates a zip with all the decencies. The issue with copy/pasting them from your HD is that they may contain file paths that are unique to the local file structure of your pc, and therefor shown as broken later. I'd DL the utility and try it.
With respect to how I would install it, it's just a matter of preference. Personally I'd take it out of the RCC folder because I like to keep things as simple and uncluttered as possible.December 31, 2024 at 3:38 am #2111227Oh I see, thanks for suggesting the content-gatherer. I'll try it out.
That kills me about the folder, I spent a ton of time on that RCC icon lol. I have plans for at least 7 more characters to fill out the series and possibly more. I figured people wouldn't want the list filled with RCC people. I suppose people could customize the install any way they like if they have the option to do it. Maybe it's not too big of a deal.
I found (https://www.daz3d.com/content-package-assist) to make a DIM install file. Anyone want the file to be installable through DIM?
December 31, 2024 at 3:58 am #2111229I think most people here do manual install but it's up to them how they arrange their folder structure. Some my very well want to leave the RCC structure intact, I can't speak for everyone.
I wouldn't worry at all about if they do or don't.
I'd go with Plan A.... we all know how late-stage Plan Bs works out 🙁 ... not so good.December 31, 2024 at 4:07 am #2111230Good points, I'll keep it as is for now. Thanks Frank 🙂
January 2, 2025 at 6:53 pm #2111699nice work!
where to purchase this?
And as I know, if you got pale skin, your feet and finger would turn to pink. That would add more realistic in your character!January 2, 2025 at 7:15 pm #2111704@xiepengbo19
It'll be a free download here on this site. I'll provide a link as soon as it passes BETA testing. That's a good idea for the skin, I might revisit this with updates down the road. I have plans for other characters and I would imagine that this process will get better as I progress; we'll see. 🙂

Is this referring to subsurface scattering?January 3, 2025 at 2:36 am #2111755@Frank21
I'll have to dig into that, sound interesting. Not sure what's the best way to adjust skin tones but there seems to be multiple ways of going about many things in daz. I'm starting to think that geoshells are the way to go with makeup so that's another thing I might look into.January 3, 2025 at 7:28 am #2111766@buster
This is turning out to be an amazing piece of work - truly professional.I can vouch for Content Package assist. After a little tweaking for set-up it makes a nice custom DIM zip file.
As long as you stick to the correct file naming method you can still edit a little to group the converts together.
i.e. change IM in the file name to REN [for rosity] or ROT [rotica] or even the RCC you mention. This will group them together in the DIM install folder - it makes it easier to locate files that you have packed and installed.
I use it for non-DS items as I prefer to have the option of uninstalling everything at once if needed for an items associated files - rather than 'hunting around' after a manual install. As I understand it the Content Gatherer product differs in that it will take ALL [if wanted] items in a scene and create a package that will allow you to install it on a different PC - even if the items were not there to begin with.
I haven't looked at this one in too much detail yet - it may do the same as CPA [?]. there seems to be a lot it can do that I have not looked at. I am sure one of our 'readers' will be able to clarify this.Looking forward to seeing your finished creation
January 3, 2025 at 11:40 am #2111815Geoshells can be a nightmare as they often interfere with with each other.

I felt like some would want a DIM install, I'll work it out then. 🙂
@eelgoo
There just doesn't seem to be a perfect solution to the makeup as they all have positive and negative aspects. I really don't like the idea of using diffuse because you have to create specific faces for every combination of makeup and then you can't use the makeup on other characters. I'm noticing that if there is a geoshell that adds blush, it turns the makeup red and bleeds over it so I suppose that's what I would like to avoid. Then you're right about the issues with geoshells as they can have issues playing-nice with one another but it's something that could possibly be resolved with a proper script.I might create a makeup kit that would go in the materials folder that would include both LIE and Geoshell versions; that could be something down the line.
January 3, 2025 at 2:34 pm #2111844Not that I really know anything about the make up area, but I don't think there are any issues with the use of LIES?
January 3, 2025 at 2:53 pm #2111846I found an issue with using blush geoshells. The geoshell overlaps the LIE and the blush bleeds the LIE with pink/red, so an eyeshadow will turn pink/red. If it were a geoshell you could pull the makeup up one layer and have it over the geoshell blush. Unless I'm missing something of course.
