Here is a beach scene I've been working on. I think I need to get away. Costa Rica is calling my name.
January 10, 2018 at 3:20 pm #455197...nice artwork! Thumb up!
Just a little question: Where did you find that Corona bottle asset? I'm desperately looking for some "branded" props like that...January 10, 2018 at 3:27 pm #455205I modeled it. At first, he was drinking wine like she is, but I decided I'd rather he drink beer, and I wasn't happy with any of the beer bottles I had in my library. And Corona seemed appropriate for the scene.
If you would like, I'd be more than happy to upload it to Mega and send you the link...
January 10, 2018 at 3:42 pm #455226Here I thought you were working for Corona not just drinking it hehehe 🙂
January 10, 2018 at 3:45 pm #455228...it would really make my day if you do that, Rob! Thank you very much... 😀
January 10, 2018 at 4:00 pm #455236I'll title it "Find Your Beach" and send Corona a bill for the advertising!
If you're okay with it, I'd like to jazz it up a little and maybe even add more options, such as Miller Lite, Bud Light, etc. before I upload.
January 10, 2018 at 4:02 pm #455239Now your thinking 🙂
January 10, 2018 at 4:14 pm #455243...that would be great, Rob! Thank you again! I wish i could model as nice as you do! Oh, if you have some Coke or Pepsi can asset, i'd love if you add them to the pack, if you don't mind, lol... 😀
By the way, what's the software you're using to make those models? Thanks mate...
January 10, 2018 at 4:47 pm #455281I'm sure I can make that happen. The hardest part for me will be figuring out how to bundle it up like it's a DAZ resource.
I use 3DS Max, but if you're a beginner and want to learn modeling, I recommend Blender. Not because it's better or easier; but because it's free so you never have to worry about it being out of date and there are countless tutorials on YouTube to learn it. If I could do it over again, I would have started with Blender because I struggle so much with the Blender learning curve now. It's kind of backward from other modeling apps.
When I first started, it was for architectural stuff and since Autodesk has the best software on the planet for architecture, I pigeonholed myself into learning it and only it.
January 10, 2018 at 4:54 pm #455291...Blender... i think i will give it a try... 🙂
January 11, 2018 at 3:06 am #455826@rob - add it to a DAZ scene and save it as a scene subset, that's the easy way.

Also I started with MAX2.0, and I still prefer MAX when I can't get something to work right 😀 I'm mostly trying to use MODO now, it's a very different paradigm but it's so much faster than MAXs modifier based workflow.
January 11, 2018 at 3:17 am #455833I like it, it's a nice setting and the foreground has a nice weight to it. I think the lack of detail on the cliffs lets the piece down though as it's a very big feature for the background.
I like your Corona bottles but there are other free versions available. https://forged3dx.deviantart.com/art/Beer-Bottle-for-Daz-Studio-608260601 [I bookmark EVERYTHING]
January 11, 2018 at 3:15 pm #456358You really have a way of getting me out of my head and looking at my art objectively. I put way too much time into that mountain; different textures, scales, etc. trying to make it look right. After I read your comment, I thought "why not just delete it". So I did and I think the scene is much better for it.
I was tempted to use the bottles you showed us from Forge3D, because they're better, but I decided to keep mine because, well, their mine. Plus I'm ready to move on to something else!
Thanks for the critique!
January 11, 2018 at 3:25 pm #456368@robf4g210 That looks so much better! It changes the light and the focus of the piece and even the implied view of the couple. Now we don't even know what they are looking at or what they're thinking, is that girl waving at them or is there someone else they are blocking that they're looking at? Are they just gazing into the distance or imagining being on that boat? To me it's opened up the scene and makes it much brighter but also gives the eye room to roam without getting hung up on lack of detail.
I know I showed those bottles but if you've made your own you should definitely keep using them, especially because they look pretty damn good anyway. Keep it up! 🙂
