After a couple of drinks I came up with a great idea of animating a continuous walk like Dave does from the film 2001 a space odyssey.
I have definitely bitten off more than i can chew as i have done very little animating, but determined to see it through now.

The environment is a cylinder so i thought it would be easier to spin the environment under the characters feet. After being extremely frustrated i have a few questions that will show how noob i am.

Firstly I want the environment to spin around it's central point, this isn't happening. I think the problem is that when Daz loads the environment it forces it all above the level of the ground so the default rotation point is the lowest point of the environment. Is there a way of changing the world origins for the environment? i've looked up a lot of tutorials but they always just animate the character.

Next question, I want the character to look like they are walking without actually walking forward, can this be done?

and last question... am i making this harder than it needs to be? would using a Null and move the parented camera and character be easier?

Hopefully one of you amazing people has some good advice that will help.

You need to change the pivot point. https://youtu.be/ZnrHsINEruk

I think this will teach you. If not just look up change pivot point in daz studio.

and last question… am i making this harder than it needs to be? would using a Null and move the parented camera and character be easier?

Isn't the camera supposed to be behind the character the entire time? Why move the camera at all unless you want to simulate walking wobble.

This guy has A LOT of scripts, i'm sure you can find a wobble script here:

EDIT: Just a quick search but here is one camera shake: https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts/mcjshake

    There is likely more.

There were animations for Gen 3 that had a walk in place. I don't know if there is one for gen 8/9. Look it up in daz3d for walking animations or try ur luck here.

    Sorry, you said environment.

Go to Render settings > environment -

(dome orientation x / dome orientation y / dome orientation z / dome rotation) configure how you want.

    Walk in place:

What a cool idea Wedge 149!

    Something like this....

    2001

and for the walk in place animation this is a good start (below)... you could even give her a bit of a breast jiggle as she walks.
And I agree with @Kefka, leave the camera alone, you'd just be making things harder than they need to be.

Yea, that is the clip i wanted to re create... it looks exactly how i remembered it.

Thanks for the advice, I will start trying things & will post the outcome if it's any good.
