Hi, can you tell me what is 500 points worth compared to $ for example?

You cannot convert it to USD (or CAD, or AUD, or any currency outside of this website.)

If you click on "Get Extra Points", you can see that they charge $0.50 USD for 100 points (bought via PayPal), or $4.99 USD for 1000 points, and so on.

OR... do what most of us do, and get points by uploading worthwhile content (you get 25-50 points per download), filling requests (where you can get thousands of points in one go), and such.

500 points equals 5 day's worth of site visits. Log in for 10 days and you've got yourself 1000 points. Buying points helps to cover the cost of running the site so I would definitely encourage it if you can.

@rapala There was a misread there. When you share something on the blog, you get 25 points every time *someone else* downloads it.

For filling requests, you can get a ton of points all at once. That usually requires picking up some new releases as soon as they come out.

Points don't translate to dollars, but a more expensive item typically earns way more points in the request system.

Not quite right @rapala: you earn 25 points every time someone downloads content that you share here. So, if 100 people download something you share, you earn 2500 points. And if you fill a request, you get all the points that people have offered for that item. More popular requests can fetch tens (or even hundreds) of thousands of points if you fill them.
