( ALL CONTEST RENDERS ARE TO BE POSTED HERE: https://zonegfx.com/forums/topic/halloween-artistic-render-contest/ )
It is 3 weeks till Halloween and I would like to create my first (and last) contest for all 3D artists.
(CAN SKIP reading this part) As Genesis 9 rolls in, I have grown tired of both creating and purchasing new 'upgrades' concerning Daz3d. As such, I am hoping those new and those ever faithful to the format will show me what true 3d artist are able to create.
(ABOUT CONTEST) With Halloween just around the corner, I challenge you to create the ultimate Halloween artistic render.
Starting today till October 24th submit your renders. At which time, all submissions will be voted upon (25th-30th October).
Anyone can enter. Everyone who has been a part of zonegfx.com for at least 6 months, can vote (Just not on your own render :P).
First place winner will receive (100K points)
Second place winner will receive (75K points)
Third place winner will receive (50K points)
Fourth place winner will receive (25K points)Also, my personal favorite render will receive *an extra* (50K points)
But wait, there's more.. All 5th place+ renders that receive at least one vote will get (1K points).
Requirements: The renders must be original, unpublished and within the spirit of Halloween (Totensonntag, Blue Christmas, Thursday of the Dead, Samhain, Hop-tu-Naa, Calan Gaeaf, Allantide, Day of the Dead, Reformation Day, All Saints’ Day, Mischief Night, etc are all welcome). The renders must not contain any nudity or sexual content.
ALSO THE RENDERS MUST CONTAIN YOUR USERNAME USING THIS PRODUCT: https://zonegfx.com/reallogo-for-daz-studio/
Other than that, GO WILD!
-Lastly, (Confirmed with Hunter) Top 4 winning submissions will be put on the front page banner for the Halloween week. If you would like to opt out of this, let me know.
October 10, 2022 at 10:25 pm #1876193I have a question about this contest. The theme is including the nov.2. Day of the Deaths or it's just about the pagan oct.31. feast?
October 10, 2022 at 11:43 pm #1876201Thanks. I should have been more clear on that. Any religion and/or cultures that celebrates some form of this ritual, are welcome.
So.. Totensonntag, Blue Christmas, Thursday of the Dead, Samhain, Hop-tu-Naa, Calan Gaeaf, Allantide, Day of the Dead, Reformation Day, All Saints' Day, Mischief Night, etc are all welcome.
October 11, 2022 at 3:04 am #1876229is there an entry limit?
October 11, 2022 at 6:44 am #1876252Yay! another contest! I love contests!
Question: Do I rally have to use Reallogo product for text? 3D text of any style/font can be created outside DAZ
October 11, 2022 at 12:12 pm #1876362@tunamcbutter 1 submission per person.
@hodor It's more for assurance that everyone's entry is legit and they actually made their render for this contest. Sure, I guess people that have talent in photoshop might be able to fool people. I'm pretty good at discerning such attempts though. (That's a lie)Anyway, all these questions tell me I did not do the best at explaining the contest. I apologize. This is my first time trying to run a contest. If anyone feels I should add more context to the 'rules' let me know.

October 11, 2022 at 10:00 pm #1876539There seems to be a bit of ambiguity so just for clarity
(Requirements: The renders must be original, unpublished and within the spirit of Halloween (Totensonntag, Blue Christmas, Thursday of the Dead, Samhain, Hop-tu-Naa, Calan Gaeaf, Allantide, Day of the Dead, Reformation Day, All Saints’ Day, Mischief Night, etc are all welcome). The renders must not contain any nudity or sexual content.
ALSO THE RENDERS MUST CONTAIN YOUR USERNAME USING THIS PRODUCT)
So as long as I use the last item in my render, Post is or is not allowed? in say photoshop just so it is clear as i prefer to render in layers so i can adjust as i see fit and reassemble outside of daz studio is that allowed or not allowed? since the answer above to a question was based on everyone’s entry is legit which is sort of open to interpretation i might want to use some of my own assets and maybe a whole different 3d program I just want to make sure everything is clear, thanks for doing this.October 11, 2022 at 10:27 pm #1876547I want it to contain users name using the said product but the first submission missed that caveat. It was kinda my way of countering cheating, but obviously it is one that wasn't well thought out. I would like the username to reflect the lighting and interact with environment but I get that it can be easily manipulated to do just that in photoshop. So I guess using said product is honestly pointless. I would still like it to be present in the render and NOT just added in via photo manipulation and I will look fondly at those that do actually integrate it into their render for when choosing my personal favorite.. that said, I guess I can't actually make anyone faithfully follow this path.
Photoshop is definitely allowed for layering and small adjustments. I know how hard it is to get lighting just right sometimes and I won't make someone create a perfect render on the fly considering this contests time allowance.
You can use any rendering engine you like.
October 12, 2022 at 12:51 am #1876564Thanks for the clarity as far as the object goes i am cool with it as i already know how i am going to work it in i just wanted to make sure i could run my idea and use photoshop for the finish
October 12, 2022 at 7:05 pm #1876778seeing as the winning image might be used as a Zonegfx banner, is there a prefered image size? (I usually render at 1680x1050)
Thanks!October 12, 2022 at 9:54 pm #1876811The one on the front page is 1600x750. I'm not sure how/if Hunter will/can format them to fit the front page. I would assume it won't be a huge problem, but I've never used wordpress (this is wordpress, right?).
If worse comes to worst, I'll do my best to shrink/expand all winners to a happy medium while retaining the format.
-Apparently 1600x700 pixels is the 'official banner dimensions' size. I just learned something today.
Though no matter what, if one/some of the renders catches a person's eye, they can always open the image to view full size (in many browsers) by right clicking and 'open image in new tab' or such.
October 23, 2022 at 11:09 am #1880758Bump! I forgot about this contest... I'll try hard to submit something before the deadline tomorrow night!
