I have never been able to install Michael 4 into my poser runtime folder correctly.

The figure itself shows up, all the materials, expressions, and poses that come with the bundle do too, but the full body morphs just never seem to work.

Has anyone else had this problem? I'd like to have the figure in my collection, but not having the morphs irks me to the point of just wanting to delete it.

I read something about installing it in my normal runtime, and not the "downloads" runtime, if that makes sense. But even when I install him there, the full body morphs just never work when I go to load him in Poser.

Any tips would be appreciated, I know M4's an old figure now.

If u are using Daz this is what i did - add the morph runtime to m4 runtime then open Daz and click on poser formats on the left side of studio, then right click on poser formats choose add a runtime directory. this will give u a chance to browse and find the folder runtime with M4 and the morphs. then just click on the runtime and it should be added. when u want m4 click on poser formats that is on the left side of studio and m4 file should be there along with the morphs. if u ever want it removed it for what ever purpose click on poser format pick that folder right click on it and choose remove runtime directory hope this helps

Thanks coolcat, sadly I'm in Poser but there's a similar option in that program so I'll give it a shot.:D

Hmm, I performed the similar action in Poser and I still can't get the FBM's to work. I completely reinstalled M4 into its own separate runtime and it still doesn't work. I wonder if the morphs are really even in the bundle I downloaded...

They're there, the deltas too, but for some reason Poser just isn't finding them. It's weird.

I'll try to delete all the old attempts at installing Michael later today and start fresh; maybe the old install is causing a problem. Earlier, when I tried to load the fbms Poser said it couldn't find the delta files, and I couldn't either when prompted to "manually" locate them, so I got tired of trying and just told Poser to skip the search... maybe Poser's assuming I don't want to look for the deltas anymore at all when I try to inject them so it's just skipping the search for them now as a matter of course... if THAT makes any sense, lol.

It's hilarious how I'm still such a noob at Poser in some respects, even after all these years. 😀 😀 😀

The poser label system is ganked up. Daz is so much easier to find stuff. G3M all in one folder, G8F all one folder. Shaders almost all in one folder. Poser drives my nutz after trying Daz. I never thought id like Daz now I wont go back. DL Daz and start getting use to it. Its free and runs most poser content with a little effort.

I may do that, I tried Daz a while ago but it's just that I've been using Poser for so long now.

Old dogs and new tricks, I guess, ha ha.

it took me 2 days to be as comfortable with it as I was poser. But then i wasnt all that great with poser.

Daz seems to be the way of the future. Some people here will only DL genesis content. And seeing how G8 will do almost anything with old stuff. Id say its almost time for poser to die.

Btw... If you get a gloss all over a poser character its an easy fix by dropping the reflection/gloss effect from 100% to whatever looks good.

    Thanks, Adam.

When I tried Daz a few years ago, one thing that struck me was the weightless feel of the program. Comparatively, when I have more than a few figures or props loaded into a scene with Poser I can almost feel "gears" grinding in the program. Poser felt like an old car with no power steering compared to Daz's easy glide.

I think the main thing that turned me off with Daz was getting used to a new rendering engine and the way lighting seemed to be different, though it's been long enough now that I may be mistaken.. something sent me back to the heavy, overwrought arms of Poser.

    Maybe I'm just a masochist? 😀 😀 😀

Is there a version you'd recommend? I'm on Win 7 Pro.

The Morphs need to be installed in the root directory for Poser, along with the Base Characters(M4, V4, etc.) otherwise they wont work or show up.

If you are running Win7, any version of Studio from 4.8 & higher will work.

    Try the current free issue.

If for any reason you can't handle it, there are earlier versions available.

    🙂
