A few months ago just discovered DAZ, so I decided to try it by creating and account to install it. I have downloaded and installed a plugin (stickychain), and recently realized DIM detects it's been installed. ¿Does somehow DIM report wether I have something installed I haven´t paid for? ¿Am I somehow putting my account at risk? I'd like to know before installing anything else so I know what I'm doing.
Apologies if this has been asked before, I haven´t been able to find a clear answer, and thanks in advance.

October 11, 2024 at 8:59 pm #2095104DIM supposedly keeps track of stuff that it has installed so one would think it shouldn't know if you haven't used DIM to previously install something unless it somehow remotely checks what you have installed (not through DIM). DIM also logs in to your account (Daz or DIM?) if you're working on-line according to Haseltine, so there is a chance something is being tracked.
That aside, NONE of my content has ever been bought through the store by me and I haven't been threatened of banned from the store or site. I can still DL Daz freebies and use DIM. So if Daz does know if you're up to something shifty they're not doing anything about it, for the moment.October 11, 2024 at 9:13 pm #2095108DIM while going online, does check for content updates for any installed content that has been installed through DIM. So it does send the account info and item info to the Daz servers upon login. Regardless of whether DIM having the functionality of detecting pirated content, the backend servers could easily detect incoming update request for updates to content that one doesn't own.
If you do not want to announce your DIM installed content to Daz servers, then always use it offline. The downside is that you wouldn't get updates to products that you own. This can be mitigated by temporarily moving out the dsx files for content that you don't own before logging in.
October 11, 2024 at 9:22 pm #2095111"...that has been installed through DIM"
That's the issue. The OP didn't previously install the stickychain plug-in through DIM so why does DIM detect it as having been installed through Daz Install Manager?October 11, 2024 at 9:31 pm #2095112OP did mention that "recently realized DIM detects it's been installed." So its possible that they used DIM to install the content. If OP installed it manually, then the item wouldn't have any dsx file or CMS entries to register its presence.
Regardless, if DIM detects the content is installed, it would definitely be checking for updates upon login.
October 11, 2024 at 9:38 pm #2095114The OP says he "hadn't pay for" it so I assumed he DL'ed it from here. Maybe I'm wrong about what I assumed, probably am.
October 11, 2024 at 9:54 pm #2095118It is also possible that OP unknowingly extracted the dsx file to DIM download folders (or wherever DIM scans for them) while installing manually. Regardless,...
October 11, 2024 at 10:00 pm #2095121Try for a job in either the laundry or the library.
I would say gardening, but it's cold in the yardOctober 11, 2024 at 10:43 pm #2095129Paranoia levels are much lower if you do manual install rather than DIM.
🙂
October 11, 2024 at 10:47 pm #2095130DIM is designed to automatically detect DIM installables from its Downloads folder. When it does so, it automatically creates the dsx file based on the dsx files present inside the DIM archive. This seems more probable that OP had the DIM archive (IM00NNNNNN-0N_ItemName.zip) in the DIM downloads folder when they launched DIM, which caused DIM to create the dsx file while launching (even before installing).
Otherwise, I see no way for DIM to detect the content. (Of course, it can also detect most Connect installed content through the CMS, but that's besides the point)

This is chauvinistic but try for a female public defender.October 12, 2024 at 2:44 am #2095164@anna1945 Don't scare the newbies, please. Who knows what contributions they are capable of in future?
All they need for remedy is to delete the dsx files AND the zip archive of the plugin from DIM Downloads folder (and also from the DIM Manifests folder if it shows installed in DIM). That should make DIM forget if the plugin ever existed in the library and prevent it from further reporting its presence to Daz servers.

October 12, 2024 at 3:25 am #2095167Thank you very much to all of you. As I said, I'm a total noob in DAZ, and I realize now you all have had to guess some things about my question I should have previously clarified:
1 - Yes, I downloaded it from here.
2 - I installed it through DIM, as the file instructions prompted me to do. It looked slightly risky to me but, as I downloaded it from here, I trusted the cracked plugin would somehow prevent any detection. Well, I guess it doesn't.So, to be safe, I have uninstalled it and deleted all the files on the DIM folder, it's not there anymore. I have been checking some posts about how to do it; it seems a bit confusing to me, but I'll try to do it manually on my own, see what happens and update this thread once I'm done.
Again, thank you all.
