Does anyone have any experience using the alembic exporter on a Mac? I know it isn't being updated anymore, so I was wondering if it's still a good option. I can't use Sagan because it's not Mac compatible.
For reference, I'm looking to import to Blender. I previously used Daz to Blender bridge but have encountered some problems with that as well.
Also, perhaps a very silly final question is: is it safe to run the .app file for Macs included in the download from this website? My Macbook gives the "MacOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware" error message which I'm always a bit nervous to override. It's probably fine, and I should probably perform a Time Machine back up one of these days anyway, but I just thought I would throw it out there to see if I could get any confirmation.

Cinema 4D exists for Mac, and with the official Daz bridge, you can export in both hdf5 and Ogawa formats (although the r19 is 32-bit, and a Catalina only supports 64-bit...). If you want Ogawa, Cinema 4d from r20 is what you are looking for. (Well, and Maya..., but not for Mac.)
My r25 (Win) open both formats, but save only Ogawa.
